Let's all make a pact...

Like so many of you I like this game, and I want to see it grow into a vibrant community of talented and enthusiastic  individuals working toward the common goal of perpetuating a great title.

Sadly, I have seen trappings of elitism and an aspiring social hierarchy in this wonderful community on this and other sites.  In an effort to preserve the laissez faire attitude and lack of exclusivity in the members of this community I propose the following:

-Let's agree to neither condone or promote the rise of a sequestered elitist group within this community, on the boards or in-game.

-Let's agree that the overall fun and enjoyment of this game lies in the people involved as much as it does in game balance and quality.

-Let's agree to be unbiased ambassadors to new and unskilled players realizing that their growth and understanding of the game is directly tied to its overall success.

*I'm not saying we should become exclusive ourselves and push people away who don't do the above.  I'm also not saying we should go out of our way and bend over backwards for people.  I'm simply saying we should treat the community and those in it (new or veteran) like we always hope to be treated by a community.

If you agree, or wish/hope for the same, sign below.  If you don't, you don't have to do anything.

Well sir,

I am all for new players who are willing to learn, listen and get better. They are newbies, and one day they will become good.

However, there are also noobs who say things like "Don't teach me how to play you vid game nerd", "If i played as much as you, id be much better than you".Their attitude is that their way is better than anything else, and if they die - it is not their fault - it is because of lag, cheat, hack, luck, ANYTHING, but themselves. These type of players, unfortunately, are a majority, and if you get them on your team, it causes nothing but frustration and desire to tell them to GTFO.

So while I am not an elitist, I will separate myself from noobs as much as I can.

Therefore, I guess, a partial /sign

I do understand there are people who only care about achievements, standings, causing grief, whatever.  BUT if we can at least maitain a civility and welcoming attitude the community won't become a rampant playground for tools like we've seen so many other gaming communities go.

It's a post from gamefaqs that intially started as a slam on the game and a comparison to DotA.  It then became a battle of communities and it give a great commentary on the benefits and undeniable appeal of a good community.

Too late, they're called the beta testers.  And we shall never surrender our elite, sequestered status!  Mwa ha ha ha ha!
