FOR SLAUGHTER MODE: The Crystal HAS To Be Destructable, at Least Temporarily

My partner and I were mowing down the other team, and we destroyed all of thier defenses, clear up to their citadel.

Of course, the opposition then just simply turtled at their crystal. During this time, they gained 5 kills, simply because it was impossible to kill them.

The game ended an hour later, when I was kicked out by the network.

In fact, if any team is losing by a large margin in any Slaughter-mode game and they simply do not want the opposition to win, they can just turtle at their crystal until they tire.

The only real way to fix this is to make the crystal at least temporarily destructable, preferrably easily destroyed. If any team has destroyed all the opposing team's defenses, then victory should be quickly secured anyway.

I have never had this problem. If they are camping at crytsals then you have to updrade your reinforcements to giants. Since you should be way ahead. Also try and upgrade their health/armour. The citadel should be down in no time (maybe 5-10 minutes if your slow). Also, try to capture lock their portals which can hurt them quite a bit.

We did have giants, though we may not have had them upgraded sufficiently.

We were not able to capture their spawn portal.

I will say, however, that we should have focused on their citadel...

Actually I thought you tried to take out their citadel and realised it won't work, because in slaughter games attacking their citadel will actually damage your own character, which is rediculous.  If they got rid of that, you could finish them off by attacking the citadel while keeping far enough away to force them to leave the crystal to drive you off.

In modes other than conquest, the citadel has defenses, but taking it out will win the game.

Drop the citadel.  out wait them etc.. etc.,..

Nonetheless, having a temporarily destructable crystal is probably not a terrible idea... is it? The only real problem I could see with this is with Regulus's snipe...

Either that or an item that disables either one or all crystals for a time.

Yes, that might also work.

I forgot to mention that this was on Crucible, a map with inherent design flaws in the placement of the base structures.

Also, I didn't realize that attacking a Citadel in Slaughter damages your own DG. That makes little sense.

Finally, waiting things out is possible, but again, when the momentum is overwhelmingly on one side, i.e. when we have a spread of 6 kills and we have destroyed all the defenses up to the citadel, then I shouldn't have to wait 10 or 30 minutes just because the opponents who are set up to lose anyway are hoping that I'll just get bored and quit, thus ending the game in a tie instead of a deserved "win" for my team.

Neah...When the enemy team has only the crystal left, then i think it's good that's indestructible, it's their last hope, lol. Seriously, you should have tried destroying their citadel and take control over their last portal. If they choose to sit near the crystal, they will lose by citadel destruction. If they come to defeat the citadel, they're out of the range of the crystial, so you and your team should kill them and then, when they are dead, destroy their citadel.

Another fix could be to nerf the citadel strength in slaughter, make it equal to that on conquest. So if they want to camp their crystal, fine, we can take out their citadel.

The devs could also redesign where the crystal is on slaughter, but even if there is 1 crystal left, there will always be camping.

Your idea of making the last crystal destructable is great, mayby a citadel upgrade for it?

That's not true.

In Crucible at least, it's very easy to run to the citadel to defend it, then quickly run back to the crystal to get recharged. The crystal is located very close to the citadel.

Also, the spawn portal flag is even closer to the crystal, so that it can be defended without even leaving the crystal.

Man just be lucky its not the dota crystal which saps the enemy heros hp in seconds.

And

They can defend all they want but once its to the point that they have to hunker by the crystal just to survive a little bit longer, your mobs and DOT's will already be hittin the citadel, if not... Cap their spawn flag and throw a capture lock on it so they are without reinforcements of any kind.

Just have the crystal go into low-heal mode if an enemy demigod is near it on slaughter.

or just outDPS them..

you should be able to grab some very easy XP sitting outside their base slaying their giants.. then just run in and gank one of them.. Crystal doesnt heal THAT much..

a solo lvl 20UB can easily outdamage the crystal :O
