Quickfix for Static/Scratchy/Stuttering sound

Howdy, I've been trying to get DG to work correctly since I got it, everything works flawlessly except the sound. It goes all scratchy and staticky after some fighting breaks out...

Here is my system and how I fixed the silly problem.

Windows XP/Pro SP2

AMD Dual Core 4200+

3 Gigs of RAM

512 ATI Radeon 3870 or 3850 I cant remember because Im to lazy to check...

5.1 Surround Desktop speakers

If you have similar problems with a similar set up check these settings out -

Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Audio tab > (Your Sound Playback Device) > Advanced

The problem with mine was it was set to Quadrophonic something or other, instead of Desktop Stero. I set it to Desktop Stero even though the picture shows only 2 lame, puny speakers instead of my totally manly speakers the size of microwaves, everything else, game/music/pronz sound exactly the same with the exception of Demigod working correctly now, been playing for half hour or so at full volume making my downstairs neighbors dog bark because Im so happy it works now! Hope this can help some other people out.

What a puny Plan

I also had to do the same trick to get Demigod working. Great game, lots of fun. Definitely higher than a 6.5 in my book. Give them some time to clean things up and she'll do right by you.

I'm suddenly getting the very scratchy sound today. Have only been getting large Pantheon games today. Maybe related. The game is using much more memory on these larger maps.

Anyway, thanks for the tip. I'll try dumbing down my surround sound setup to stereo and will see if it helps.
