Leaver replacement

I am suggesting some alternatives to replaces leaver heroes with bots, because I believe (after playing 2 games consecutively with bot-leavers within the first 5 minutes) that bots are way too easy to repeatedly kill and harvest massive amounts of gold from. In essence making the game even harder than a 1v2 or 2v3 from all the fed gold and experience.

1. Split all the accumulated wealth and item value between the remaining players (or some fraction of said wealth), and then remove the hero entirely. This is similar to the dota system of replacing leavers, and it has worked well for DotA. Not to encourage becoming a dota clone, it just seems to function well.

2. Make bots worth much less gold and experience when killed. This way it isn't as much of an incentive to farm the bot heroes, and the lone hero or disadvantaged heroes do not get beaten worse by heavily-geared advantaged opponents.

3. Completely remove the bot replacement function and do not give any gold out or any assistance to remaining team mates. At this point it is more beneficial than having a bot player.

Edit: I should mention, all other possible changes to the current system you wish to present, please just post them beneath. Any other feedback on my ideas also feel free to post about.

The only thing that needs to happen is the bots need to be significantly harder, as of now whichever team has the most bots loses, because of the sheer stupidity they possess.

One does not simply magically make bots harder... that's going to take a while. Probably even safe to say a long time. We need an immediate solution, I guess I mean.

I agree that the current leaver replacement system is a bit of a joke. I like the idea about re-distributing wealth and zapping the hero.  Or granting control of the hero to a remaining player. Hell, just getting rid of the bot would be great.

Options for all of the above, would probably be the best choice.

The default should probably be prompting any player to take control of the hero by pressing a particular key and after 10 seconds it stays in bot mode but is worth less xp\gold.

Why not learn from the dota experience?

Out of 10 dota games i host.. about 8 will have at least a leaver. My banlist takes care of those who left so they wouldnt spoil my game again in the future. I doubt the DG community behaviour will be any different..

Within the game itself, leavers will be made controllable, and leavers items perhaps can be converted to gold and distributed evenly among the remaining team members. (alternatively, the leaver can be removed entirely and total xp & gold is then distributed)

A switch option can be implemented where if 80% of the players agree by vote, a player can be made to switch over to the other side to balance out the game.

I would say making harder bots would help. Nightmare bots might not be competitive for clan matches, but they would be fine for pub play as a replacement.

You can't make the bots too hard though or there will be lots of people who will rage against how they just lost because an enemy player left, and that team only won because of the nightmare bots :)

Agreed with WickedDemiurge.

Instead of replacing leavers with Normal AI, they should be replaced by Hard or even Nightmare AI, depending on how good the leaver was doing before.

This definitely needs attention but so does almost all aspects of the game.  It crashes often, the mulitplayer system is weak, ect. ect. ect.

Incentive in the forms of some kind of stakes for online matches would lower the number of leavers but half the time I try to join a multiplayer game, some error causes me to crash...that's no doubtedly inflating the number of apparent leavers.
