Paid £30 to BETA Test.

I see a lot of sympathy on these forums for the Devs, and a lot of players that have paid for a product that doesn't do what it says on the box making allowances. I also see some extremely amateurish and outright rude responses from Stardock officials.

The fact is that Stardock/GPG are basically using paying customers to BETA test their game, it is far from ready, your answers are unacceptable, I am not willing to just sit back and say 'Its OK, its just been released, of course there are going to be a few problems' not when many players cannot get a multiplayer game for hours on end if ever, which is the whole point of the game in the first place.

As many others have said, it is a great shame because the game is excellent, I truly hope these issues are rectified and no more poor excuses are offered up, however I fear it is already getting late in the day and the sales for Demigod have already been seriously hurt due to a very poor launch.

i don't see it like this.

i paid for the game, not the beta. sure it's not a free demo that you can try before you pay, but it's ok in my opinion, since i don't play a demo for every game i will buy.

i had fun in the beta and it gave me some knowledge about the game mechanics before the release. now the game works good for me and i love it, tho i think the loadings are long and the solo mode isn't as good as multiplayer.

good game and i have no regret.

I don't see how you're paying to play beta... The game itself runs perfecting, VERY little bugs game wise, and all in all on my decent rig is enjoyable.

The only issue is the connection thingy... And thats fault on both sides, certain people's side for not knowing how to set a connection up router/crap/etc... And their side for not implementing a time out thingy or connection rejecting thingy for the 1 person who can cause a connection to a game to hang and not start.

Generally when I see the connection window open and everyone but 1 person connect... I tend to get more frustrated with that person, especially when I see them in the next game I search for not connecting again.

Besides the connection thingy the game is great imo... Cept for the little lag you get from 350+ pingers who generally are from across the globe, I can generally deal with that though, slight annoyance on the lag/click where an action doesn't go through cuz of the lag.

Wolfman, this certainly isn't 'beta' testing. Stardock has already conducted months and months of beta from September of last year.

Yes, there are problems, but they have said they will rectify them. Poor launch? Sure, but they didn't expect Gamestop to release early, it's not the kind of thing they could possibly plan for, they have said that they will try and get it working by next weekend. They have been working as hard as they can, i'm sure, I heard that Frogboy had been up a hell of a long time (cant remember how long exactly) trying to rectify the situation before he eventually went home.

I cannot remember the last game launch that I saw that went perfectly. Give these guys the time and i'm sure they'll do what they can for us. Just wait and see.

I must say it feels like this a bit, altough the game is great when it works ,  it was a chore to make it runs, it was crashing locking up the pc  , at opening movie cause i suppose it was waiting for an activation check .I dont have crashes on the match altough.

THe big interest of the game is playing multiplayer, and its their better shield against piracy, but currently i cant say its very playable. Tried pantheon, it takes hours to get  a game, theres always someone who can connect, and even if by miracle everyone connect , then its not sure to start still.Tried skirmish games, same issues , it rarely start a game, and honestly i spend yesterday whole day trying to play i hardly had 2 hours of efficient play .To sum up the multiplayer part is completely unnaceptable and a shame for a released product. Was it like this in beta? and if it was known how could it be released in this state?

I understand it use per to peer connection, that its supposed to be more efficient, but i dont think everyone knows how to forward ports from their router, its trivial for me and techies, but i know by experience its much harder for the common user .Not only its hard but i think you should pop a warning message in game and a link to a guide on how to do this. And also make people  be aware of this, i am not even sure those guys knows whats wrong with their setup, since its probably works well with 99% of the new games. In this state the game will be a source of frustration for many people , its impossible to get everyone with a good setup in an online match.

And theres another issue with the matchmaking, you dont know whats going on, you see people trying to connect ok, but no idea , no countdow on when the game will start, and worse you cant even chat with the other people while waiting, i prefered much much more the simple  lobby system in dawn of war 2 .Oh and alt tabbing when you wait crash it as well...

Great game when it works but disapointed at stardock making me a paying beta tester, they used to release more polished and user friendly products.
