Game has been released, and the sound popping issue still persists

Now I'm getting worried, will they be able to fix the sound crackling that occurs after playing for awhile? This almost screams of a memory leak somewhere.

Never experience this, could you describe it and the circumstances more?

I would check your sound drivers. There are no known sound problems with Demigod.

Try setting your sound settings to low in game options.

My sound drivers are up to date, and this only happens in demigod. In fact, I even recorded a video and other people on other machines viewing it heard the same sound crackling.

We aren't disputing that you're hearing sound crackling on your machine. We just aren't sure what we can do about it.  We will look into it.

Your sound card may have a limited number of channels, as diablo5 mentioned above, try changing your audio settings in-game to "low fidelity audio", and toggle the reverb to "off".

I'll do better than that, I'll post a link to my youtube clip once it processes.

There were several other posts on this very issue early in the beta. The problem was never resolved for me (and for several others).

When does it crackle?  In-game, or in the menus?  I never had it happen to me ingame, but when selecting a Demigod or just in the main menu, the sound would stutter.  I posted this while the beta was going and never got one reply: someone saying he had the same problem, nothing from Stardock.  I'm hoping it's fixed in the full version, but I don't know yet.  I'm only at 75 percent download and I have to leave.  Can't play till tomorrow.

I have a Soundblaster X-fi extreme music card if that means anything.

Ok it seems turning the reverb off helped a lot. I'll continue to play and see if the static sound thingy comes back, but so far so good.

Alright, I still have the sound crackling issue that I demonstrated in the video clip I posted. It has lessened a lot since disabling reverb and putting sound quality to low, but it is still pops up from time to time (pun not intended).

I'm not sure this is relevant, but in SupCom, I would get sound crackling when the cpu was being hammered to death :) i.e. loads of units and stuff going on that would push the cpu to its limits.

Is your cpu above the miminum req?

I had the same problem, turning off reverb fixed it for me

Have you set the X-Fi to Game mode in the Volume Panel? I used to have that problem when it was set to Entertainment mode.

Xtreme Music's are known for sound popping at the best of times. ;s

I have one, so I should know, was bad especially with speakers. DOn't really notice it any more with head phones.

Looks like there are other options before wondering about your cpu.. but I wonder if Demigod uses multiple cores (SupCom didn't)

SupremeCommander definetly used at least two cores, because it was unplayable on my single core and if I remember rightly it was part of the minimum/reccomended specs..

I'm getting these bugs too, and it's mostly when I zoom in all the way-- so I've been playing up in the stratosphere until it stops.  It comes in waves, and it goes on for a few seconds, sometimes like 30.  It just keeps popping away.

I haven't tried disabling the Reverb thing, and my sound quality is on LOW because I heard it boosted performance.  But it crackles on high, medium and low.

Yeah...that was one thing I was going to mention.  I've enjoyed every Gas Powered Games release I've played, but sound always seems to be an issue.  This and the SupCom games are the only ones I've run on my machine that have sound issues.

For me, I get sounds that are all out of whack in the opening video (can't hear the narrator for example) and I get all kinds of crackling and popping when large battles come together in game.  Other than that, it's smooth sailing.

Machine is definetly above spec.

I have a sound blaster xtremegamer x-fi, drivers are up to date. I have never had sound poping noises, including supcom, i have a pent 4 3ghz processor. Only time i get sound popping noises in Demigod is in the single player tournament after you beat one of the maps and the scores show up and you select continue to go to the next map. There is a popping scratchy type noise but it only last a split second.

I'm getting these crackling noises as well, but only towards the end of a game. The sound is crystal clear and fine for the first 20 minutes or so. It's usually the push on the enemy base where crackling starts.

I have a Creative Soundblaster Live! I believe the drivers are up to date...checking on that.

I've run the game about seven times now, only once did I have a sound popping issue, and it came bundled up with a frame rate slowdown. I'm not sure what it is, but there may be some sort of conflict with outside programs... my assumption is that talking with many people over ventrilo somehow affects it.
