How do you like the game? Some sort of reviews would be nice..

I played this in closed alpha/beta stage and it felt quite slow and buggy, so i was thinking to not buy it. Then i realised i got it for free as thank you for beta testing and im going to give it another try. I heard from a mate it was fun and much faster than in beta.

So my questions are, how do you like the game? and how many players are online?

Are there any active fansites?

I love the game. I got it at the store (gamestop, sorry) last Friday and been playing it all weekend. This is the most fun I've had with a PC game since, man I can't remember.

I think the game is great.   The game hasn't come out yet until tomorrow so we don't know how many people are online.  I'm guessing about 1,000 active online users.

Hi Loui :D

I like it, though I haven't played it as much as other people here.  It is definitely worth trying if you have it anyway.  The servers are slow today since the game wasn't supposed to be out today but it should work better tomorrow.  I'm not sure about how many players are online yet since today is really the day before the day it was meant to be released :D.

The GR portal is the only active fansite that I know of.

I've just been playing single player, but even that has been great fun.  First time in a long while that a game hasn't left me disapointed after getting excited waiting for it.

I can see myself still playing this 2-3+ months from now unlike most games, where I'm bored after a few weeks.

It's amazing so far, but it's so hard to judge a game until the "new" factor wears off.

My first impressions are that it looks great, good sound, and it's plenty fun.  But medium to long term is going to be about whether multiplayer grabs me or not - the single player game looks like it'll get old really fast (in fairness, I find most RTS games do).

(Disclaimer: this really is first impressions - I wasn't in beta, didn't really pay attention to pre-release until a couple weeks ago, and I've just got 3 hours of gameplay (all today) under my belt at present)

There are areas I'd like to see further developed (dynamic maps, etc) but for the most part I see this game as a total winner.  The more that I play the deeper play seems to get.  I see things every time I play that surprise me, and I've been playing for six months.

If you are coming over from DoTA or are new to the genre, I encourage you to take the game on its own merits - once you have exhausted optimal multiplayer builds for a given DG you should start to explore how that DG interacts with a team.  I think you'll find that the possibilities are limitless for a good, smart team, and everything has a counter.

My only issues are with your demigod's pathfinding when you click to attack/activate (ie. buildings, other demigods) something that is accoss the map. They tend to walk in a straigh line toward it and if something blocks their way they get stuck.

I chose a pedicure over Demigod, if that offers any assistance.

I'm primarily a singleplayer kind of guy, so these are my impressions from that perspective.

I am enjoying the game as a quick 15-30 minute diversion in between study breaks. The action is fast and straight forward and it's dangerous playing a quick match since it tends to lead to "just one more quick match!" syndrome.

I will say though that the singleplayer Tournament mode is completely underwhelming. It is absolutely functional but I was expecting some sore of fancy tournament screen and presentation. Something at the very least like old school Mortal Kombat or using the fancy background hyroglyphics scheme from the intro as an interactive leaderboard. As it is now, it's pretty much a spread sheet. Rank 1-8, show the divinity score then start the next match. Nothing fancy. Just utterly simplistic. I am guessing GPG spent more time on last minute Demigod balancing than eye candy, but I'd like the tournament screen to be VASTLY improved at some point.

Great graphics, utterly smooth on my 4870 1gb at 1900x1200 max settings. Sound is good and very stable game.

I am suffering from the original cast fatigue of Demigods roster. I played since beta with all of them and really looking forward to new flavors. New comers should be very happy for a while but already I am sensing boredom with the OC.

Game is awesome :) Really improved from the closed beta and they just need to polish it off a bit more with future updates.

I tend not to buy games right off the bat, prefering to test them out (argh me hearties!) before deciding if they are worth my hard earned money. I didn't do that this time, probably because it was an amalgamation of Stardock and GPG and for once i havn't been disappointed.

The game keeps itself focused on what any game should be, quick fun. Its not the most taxing or complex game, but neither are legendary ones like Tetris. Being accessible and entertaining is the most important thing and it does it well.

There are of course area's which could do with some improvement most of which unsuprisingly focus around the demigods themselves.

Animations are somewhat one dimensional. In a game where you have a low unit count which invites close-up observations its important to make things look interesting. Watching Rook swat his hand across for the 400th time can become somewhat tedious. This is a problem more for the melee based characters than those that focus on spells/range.

Melee Demigods have a tendancy to stand and let anything ranged attack them as their engagement range seems to be extremely small. This could do with being increased (a floating value based upon whats attacking them perhaps) or a stance system introduced so you can have a fixed "stand ground/engage short range/agressive" choice.

Items seem a bit strange, why can i wear 5 helmets at once? Shouldn't the purpose of having different types be to force a person into making strategic decisions. Would be a very quick way to increase depth.

The very linear skills tree works, but i feel it could be made better by interlinking certain branches to force players to spread their points out, again adding a little more depth to proceedings.

The UI needs a small bit of work, trying to hover over one of the end skills in the skill tree is a nightmare.

These are all minor issues which for me would make this good game closer to a great game. Hopefully in the future we'll see increases in Maps (single digit maps is a real downer, luckily unlike DoW2 the gameplay covers for the lack of variety), Demigods (2-4 in an expansion, no need to go overboard) and any random bugs cleared up...which should all make for a long running game.

Honestly, when compared to the majority of refined AoS (that's Aeon of Strife, the map type on which the now more infamous DotA is based) maps available for Warcraft 3, Demigod brings little to the table. I can't think of a single game mechanic or skill that I haven't seen in a Warcraft 3 map.

So yeah, I'm disappointed. I was expecting more originality from a professional developer such as GPG. I was holding my tongue until the end of beta, hoping against hope that large changes would be made, but now it's gone gold and has been released.
But hey, that's just my two cents. I'm sure people that haven't been into WC3 maps as much as me will enjoy it more.

So far, so good. I'm enjoying the game, but I've begun to understand the posts about balance regarding generals. Perhaps I just need more practice with them, but it definitely seems that General v General is balanced and Assassin v Assassin is balanced; but General v Assassin needs some work.

The updated from beta pretty much balanced the generals and assasins. You just need to give it some more practice and you will see.

If anthing, generals are better now :P

Didnt take part in the beta or anything.. but have racked up a stupid amount of playtime this weekend :P - 5 singleplayer tournaments (3 on nightmare) and a shed-load of Lans with a group of friends - so far its pretty cool.

Singleplayer seems only to be there as an afterthought.. something to do if u just want to check out what an specific setup can do..

the multiplayer (the main focus) is brilliant so far, and addictive.. really has a strong "one more round" syndrome

Amazing beautiful looks and presentation, a lot of fun action.

Much less room for strategy than in SupCom. The game is more about timing of clicks and team cooperation.

One aspect that demonstrates the above is the complete absence of need for scouting.

So, Loui, I'm guessing you won't dominate this game ;)

scouting with minions and placing observer wards helps a lot in Demigod.
