Preorder Confused and Frightened

Please hold me...

I pre-ordered Demigod and I did so during the period of the last BETA so I never got to play the game. When I preordered, the charge showed up as pending to my account, and later dropped off; I understood this to be what I expected as I will be charged when I actually download the game.

I have a Stardock account now and I downloaded Impulse in anticipation- But I can find no mention of Demigod anywhere connected with me... I wish I had an email saying" thank you for preordering Demigod" or something.. I wish when I looked up my games through Impulse it would say Demigod preorder.. It all says nothing...  Now I am afraid...

What happens tomorrow?! Will an email show up or not? Will I be able to download this game or not...

I don't like the way any of this has worked- It seems shoddy... Right now, I am thinking if I get the game great, I will pay for it and play it- but, IF nothing arrives, I may just move on and pretend none of this ever happened.

E-mail should show up. Me and a friend ordered through the Impulse program, and it doesn't mention Demigod anywhere on our account. On release day (actually, probably tomorrow) you'll get an e-mail with a key, it'll give you a code to put into Impulse and that will give you access to the game and the download for it.

Tomorrow you will get an email with your serial.

You can install the most current Impulse client from here: Impulse Client - Full to be ready.

Why are some people here so scared and paronoid...lol.

You payed for the game, you will get the game on its release (tomorrow).

I can only imagine someone walking into Gamestop to preorder a game then going back home to hug their knees while naked in the shower, wondering if they will ever get the game they just preordered.

You'll be fine! Hopefully, anyways. We'll see tomorrow. :D

I understand the backend of the imulse database somewhat, I think what people's main problem with the current system is that no icon shows up saying:

Demigod Pre-order, Availalable April 14th.

If this was present, it would clear up a lot of confusion and we wouldn't have to seee 100+ posts like this.

Good feedback.  Noted.

Yeah, a number of people have asked for that in the past. However at present the store and Impulse are separate systems, and any communication is one-way only (store tells Impulse to add registration X to email Y). It's definitely something on the ideas list though if we should redo the backend in the future, and can do it in a secure way.

Couldn't you just have the store backend with hold confirmation from the bank (or when the email is sent to the customer confirming the preorder) send a message to impulse.  This message states that the person has a tenative pre-order.  Then impulse uses a pre-order icon that is useless except that it has the game name and release date listed.

Speaking as a programmer, I can definitively state:  "It depends".

There are too many factors to ask someone who didn't actually have their hands on the programming question that, and I can think of a few ways to program it so that no, that isn't an option.  For example, if they store account info in the form of boolean data so that instead of saying "Player X has items:  Y Z" (linked list) they instead say "Player X has: TFTTFFTFFTTTFFFFFFF..."  (I doubt they'd do it that way, as any data savings you might get by the boolean approach would vanish once the database of available items grows...  but who knows!)

Excellent replies. I must say, the Demigod community stands head and shoulders above what I have seen on most gaming forum boards. Kudos!
