Diplomacy between two AIs

Does anyone know, how the diplomacy works between two AIs? If I watch a recorded game, changing the viewpoint to one of the AI players, sometimes I see the diplomacy icon flashing, and opening the diplomacy panel I notice some changes in its relation to other (e.g. new cease fire, planet vision agreements), however the relationship meter stays at zero.

Hi!

AIs don't give each other missons, so their relations can't change, but IIRC they must have at least one enemy at all times. I also belive they have improved from the AIs in original game, as it seems to me they behave more "rationaly" about who to fight or not or who to ally to. Can't give a real proof, but for me it's easier to play multiple AIs in Entrenchment as it was in original Sins.

Whenever I fire up a free for all with all hard AIs the computers gang up on me EVERY SINGLE TIME. It not that they all choose to pick on me at once. I mean 3-5 fleet jump in the second I leave a planet defended. All from the same phase lane, all at the same time.

They seem to ally together so they must have diplomacy between themselves independant of me.

Yes, as I wrote, they can get into a mutual alliance with each other. I don't know wether it has a real meaning, but one time I saw planet vision and ship vision agreements, too, between two AIs.

But yeah, I except the similar, playing against hard AIs, you are their most important target much more time.
