Z Axis Movement

How does it work?

With many planets, stars especially, enemies can come in from several directions. An idea that occured to me to be able to reach them all fast is to move my forces over the top of the star, and stoop on anyone that comes in.

Strikecraft move through a star to get across, and once I saw some of my ships chase another over the top, but how do I do it on purpose? The Z axis movement control doesn't seem to do much, and keeps deleting what I put into it, and I don't know what else there is to try.

So, does anyone know how to move above objects?

I think you hold a modifier while using the move command, like shift or control or something.  Can't remember exactly and I'm not at a computer with Sins on it atm.  But I know it is doable on purpose!

You have to go into options and assign a key for Z-Axis under Keys.

Z-axis movement user guide:

  1. Assign hotkey for Z-axis movement.  I use"`".
  2. select fleet or ship you want to move.
  3. press the "D" hotkey.
  4. press and hold "`" while you move the cursor where you want to move the ship/fleet to.
  5. release "`" and left-click mouse when you have your destination finallized.
