Dreamscapes for XP not running!

I really did EVERYTHING!!!

Hi again... from a frustrated Girlie!

Yes...i got the Object Desktop from Dad as a Gift.

I am running WinXP SP3 and insatlled Dreamscapes XP. After first try it did not run... i updated my Geforce9500GT with the latest Drivers from Nvidia (Feb2009).

Still not running!

I updated/installed Cyberlink MPeg2-Video... still not running.

I disabled Ahead NERO Videocodecs... still NOT RUNNING!!!!

Please... has anybody a Hint how i can GET it to RUN???

And to Stardock: Why do you say "Dreamscapes XP", when so many People can not USE IT on XP???

What kind of Machine / XP are YOU running that it works? I mean: If you Stardockers recognize the Problems People have with Dreamscapes XP... why don`t you force Developements to fix it, or give People Hints to get it running?

Strange thing too: If i type "Dreamscapes" into the Searchmask... i get ZERO Entries! NOBODY asking for Support with Dreamscapes? Or do i something wrong when typing "Dreamscapes" (without the Quotes)???

Thanx to all of you... Revanito

EDIT:

I am not really sure... but may be this might be a Hint to OTHERS who have also Problems to get Dreamscapes XP running!

Frustrated about that Prob i searched for a similar Soft... and found Desktop Dreamscapes by superxstudios.com.

I installed the DEMO... in Short: That is not a nice Thing and very limited. BUT... a FAT "BUT":

AFTER installing that Demo... my Stardock Dreamscapes RUNs!!!!!!!!

I don`t know if the Demo comes with some Systemfiles that help DREAMSCAPES to run.... but in my Case its like that!

I did nothing else after installing their Demo. So it might be a Solution.

Good Luck to all of you... Revanito

Dreamscenes is the Windows version of animated wallpaper.

DeskScapes is the Stardock version, and they run .dream files. You should search for them under that name.

I'm happy to hear you got them working and thanks for posting how you did it.:sun:

My happyness was to early!  =o(

One Hour later the Deskscapes XP did not work no more.

Now days went by and i really tried Videocodecs...the Cyberlink Mpeg2 is installed... i uninstalled deskscapes and reinstalled... NO Deskscapes.

But ONE thing is strange: When i have rebooted and go to the preferences and try to start Deskscapes again.... there is a Dream poping up for a Second... but then disappears... and i got a grey Desktop with a little black Square (5Millimeter x 5 Millimeter) in the Middle of the Desktop!!!Then it never comes again.

Its soooo sad and i don`t know what do do anymore. Is there nobody out there who had the same Problem and has some advice for me?

Thank you, Revanito

Even though this is a support forum,it is user based, not the "official" support channel. You should e-mail support at Stardock dot com and tell them everything you have tried so far,and link this post in your e-mail. Someone there will be able to help you, they are very good  and want you to enjoy your software. Good Luck.

Can you post your system specs?  Specifically OS and Service Pack, CPU, Graphics card info and driver release date.

Revanito,

I came to the forum to post about Deskcapes myself.

Supposedly 2.5 will run with an AGP card if your drivers are new enough (December I believe).  I have a Radeon 9600 256MB AGP 4x card with the March 2009 drivers.  i tried to run deskcapes last night from fully updated XPSP3 and fully updated Object Desktop.  the application said cannot be run on XP, I tried anyway and it just hour glassed.

Do you perchance have an AGP video card also?

Peter

did some more searching and this post:  https://forums.wincustomize.com/330419

says AGP4x and lower will never workx_x

Yes, sorry to say, but AGP 4x cards simply don't have the throughput needed for DeskScapes, and will not work.

Everything looks good from the Everest report.  Do you have any other software installed that could be messing with DeskScapes?  Fences is a big one on XP, as they don't yet really play nice together.
