About Virtual Desktops

I appreciate using these virtual "worlds". This helps me to be more efficient and productive in managing my workload. The Stardock Virtual Desktops has lots of nice features and options but I tend to think that there is one missing. In the display options, you can select "Display Desktop Names" which is not too useful the way it is currently implemented because there is not enough space to view the names. Currently, the virtual desktops are located in ObjectBar. Perhaps it would be better if we move the cursor over the virtual desktop and a small popup would appear and show the name. I think that would be more helpful. With that I can navigate through my 15 virtual desktops with the cursor and "see" all the names. I have to say that once I learned how to use this APP, I realized that I just couldn't do without it. It's such a useful tool to organize my workflow.

but I would like to see the popups...

If I activate FENCES, the virtual desktops DO NOT work. So temporarily, I removed FENCES so I can use my desktops. That's somewhat a little more important to me. This needs to be fixed...

I originally had my virtual desktops installed on my laptop and so there wasn't much room for desktop names - and so the little popups would be helpful for small screens. I now have it on a 22" screen with the names appearing and what a nice way to be organized...

It might be useful to have the "option" to view popups for smaller screens...

I guess I'm alone on this thread! That's OK.

But after some time, an issue was apparent for me, and so, it was a toss up between Fences and ObjectBar (with Virtual Desktops) and my final decision was to continue to use ObjectBar. I consider it way better than Fences... ObjectBar is by far the best and well beyond Fences (nice app though)...! :star: but me and my ObjectBar have become inseparable...

I love OB too.  I hope to get it to use WB skins again soon.

I am trying to figure out why you need to know the name of your desktops? You can choose different wallpapers for each to differentiate ( what i do)

I do agree with you that i simply cannot live without SVD, I do not understand why more ppl dont use it and why SVD isn't hyped a lot more than it is. ( even M$ liked the idea so much they stole it but it wasn't as well implemented as Stardock)  For those of use who like/have to keep lots of things open at one time this app alone is worth the price of admission to SD  IMO. OK I exagerate ;-)

I use SVD with Control Center rather than OB. It is a shame that CC is no longer available as I am not happy with OB in W7. OB still retains some of the winderz taskbar oddities that I can do without and CC still runs if only it could still be downloaded.

ANYONE ELSE LISTENING HERE ??
