BootSkin Vista (free)

I downloaded the free version of BootSkin Vista v1.02.006 made available to me this morning by Impulse.  So far, no good.  When I restart my computer I get the hibernation / aurora bootscreen, not the one that I wanted.  This happens with the included skins and ones I've downloaded from WinCustomize.com.  I have the English language version of Windows Vista Ultimate SP1, and I have every setting I can find under Regional and Language options set to English and United States.  Now - when I installed BootSkin Vista (free), I got an icon under "My Desktop" in Impulse for the free version, and another icon for the paid version; the free version shows up to date and the paid version shows an update available.  When I try to update the paid version, it says my registration is invalid and gives me the option to edit my registrations.  I don't know if that was intentional or not.  So is there anything I can do?  I've gone through other threads I could find on the region/locale problems with BootSkin Pro, and no fix that I have tried has yet helped.

I had that problemtoo, tried updating to new version, still no joy....in fact, after updating and restarting I got the newly infamous vista KSOD, and had to reinstall my system completely. The other software out there that lets me change my boot screen works just fine, so I guess I have tomix and match between stardock object desktop and other juju sadly. I do not want to reinstall again. Now if only I can find where they hid 'enhanced file dialog' which I had before the KSOD and now doesnt appear to be availableany more :(
