Elemental has no Forum Issues topic, & maybe a bug in FireFox

There's a very long thread page in Elemental Ideas. When I try to view it in FireFox, the last bits of the last post are cut off and there is no reply box nor final page boilerplate (other than the (c) block, which looks to be outside the table that contains the posts & reply box).

When I view the page in Opera, I see all the text of the last post, and the page bottom I'd expect to see without being signed in.

Has this particular argument found some character or line limit for thread pages in the forum code?

Very old bug (see the bugzilla page), known and neglected by the Firefox devs for more than five years, despite being marked critical.

What version of FF are you using, I am using 3.0.6 and have no issues seeing whole page of that thread, logged in or not.

I'm on 3.0.6 also, but I can easily repro the truncation on a fresh tab. Maybe you have an extension installed that helps somehow? I only use FF for a couple of sites and have no plug-ins etc.

Looking at that link myself that page is fine, but if you see it elsewhere, yes, it is a known bug with firefox. Basically, any block more than 32768px long gets cut.

Could be Addblock Plus,

Basically, any block more than 32768px long gets cut.

no adds equals shorter block.? Maybe.?

32768px long

If pixels are the operative measurement, then I'm probably getting bitten by the zoom feature. But it still seems like an FF bug, if one that's *very* low on the Mozilla priority list.

Edit: Yup. Just tested, and standard zoom shows the page fine. Curse those Mozilla folks and their insufficient love of Opera-style zoom functionality!

Yeah, if you're blowing it up that will likely cause threads to reach the threshold which otherwise wouldn't.

Well, IE had an error with a Sins page "planetary artilliary". Still, love IE7's zoom here!.

You say "blowing it up" and I say "making the ludicrously tiny default text halfway reasonably-sized," but then I'm a selfish man with aging eyes, a personal agenda, and a tendency to be verbose...

BTW, the last small post from Jonny in that thread made the zoom-whatever problem so bad that the page actually rendered with large blocks of black instead of large, empty swaths of the page background graphics.
