Runtime Error

Well now with the new patch, I am once again getting these runtime errors with dumps.

I know this has been an issue in the past for many folks. Was there ever a fix, or workaround for this ?

Error Message:

Title: Windows Visual C++ Runtime Library

Description: Runtime Error!

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I just had this problem.  I was messing around with old maps trying to get them to work in Entrenchment and I started getting this.  So I took all the custom maps out of the folder and reset the manifest.  Everything started working again.  Dont know if you were doing the same thing, but just incase.

there is a map updater tool on the download page that works in all english language windows, and updates the maps to be able to load, but you still have to add the map to the galaxy.manifest and correct the lines count at the top of it.

hope this helps

galaxy forge maps need to be in the program files\stardock games\sins of a solar empire\galaxy folder or the entrenchment\galaxy folder and be listed in the galaxy.manifest and the galaxymanifest must have the correct number of lines at the top. if the lines count is low then it reads only the first number of maps, of too many it probabley would crash sins(do not know, but possible if inadiqate error checking

hope this helps

Thanks guys for the input. Unfortunately, I am getting these runtime crashes on a fresh install. I have 3 machines in my house. One with Vista 32 bit, which is playable, but I have to save every 5 minutes for the inpending crashes. Another machine with the Win 7 Beta running on it, and while all of my games work on this, Sins crashes instantly when loaded. lol..  The only machine that does not get these runtime crashes, is the XP machine, which I have demoted to my storage closet bascially.

One thing I will check is the dotnet version on the Win 7 machine. It is possible that's an issue there. The Vista machine has dotnet ver 3, so...  *shrugs*

But thanks guys. I appreciate the help. :)

polt22 there should be a new version of the map updater "soon" ie when the beta testing has passed it with a non-english windows I will email to blair for release.

on a different note I heard a rumour that the galaxy.manifest might disappear in a future patch (YAHOO!!!!!). the rumour came from a source that should be reliable
