Corvette defense force

Playing Maso level on gigantic,
Everybody is at war with me, I'm behind on techno, military, industry, etc, etc...so nobody likes me...
Well everybody has Rangers and Dreads, but they cant penetrate my defense of corvettes...its great!

I keep a pile of 40+ corvettes stacked and on 'guard' just outside my borders all alien ships attack it, but cant get through.

Have Rangers attacking it and the Rangers get destroyed and only one of my corvettes gets destroyed. I keep spending money on tech and soc. and little needed on military. Eventually build up a couple dreads and starship trooper transports and go kill some bugs.

However...catch is I cant attack with stacked Corvettes, cause then I loose about 20 per every dread I attack. The only thing they are good for is as a 'buglight' and an effective one at that.

The fleeted defense phenomenon.

We also had a report of fleeted starfighters succesfully defending against Avatars.

The simulator shows that this is statistically near impossible. Seems like a bug to me.

No wonder RayChua is up so late, you're in Singapore. Japan had a big quake last night (6.9)...my office shook pretty badly.

I've noticed the same thing...

I however do NOT like that bug and want it to be fixed asap.

Yeah J4, we are in a different time zone from most of the others.

I guess the distribution isn't fantastic in Asia (not available in Singapore stores) so I don't suppose there many players in Asia other than those who have downloaded the game direct.

6.9 quake? On the Richter scale? Isn't 8 the max?

I guess what I'm trying to say is "You're lucky to be alive!".

6.9 quake about 3 hours from here. 95km from sendai a large city. 0 casualties as far as I know, but big enough to shake a skyscraper 3 hours away LOL

Greetings,

Please note that the Richter scale is NOT linear its logarithmic.

True. A quake in the mid-5 range might break some china if it's not stored well, 7s are nasty, but not catastrophic in a city with earthquakes in mind (L.A., San Francisco). An 8, on the other hand, is quite deadly even in cities that laugh off 7.0s. Not linear at all. Wasn't the quake that flattened I-80 (?) in San Francisco a 7.6? Or am I confusing it with the last big one in L.A?

The 1989 Oakland/San Francisco eathquake registered in at 7.1 on the richter scale. It was then followed up 37 minutes later by a aftershock, that registered 5.2

Need to correct myself. Galciv is available in Singapore for S$49.90 or about US$28.
Is galciv in singapore in Chinese? or Same version as US? Maybe I should put in a bid for Japanese translations....hmmm...Stardock, I will send you resume soon. ;)
Negative. English is our first language so there is no need for that. If Stardock is planning to penetrate the China market than it would probably make sense.

End of quote

No, there is no max. The big Alaskan quake was IIRC 8.3(?). The bigger quakes tend to rare (Thank God!)

I like to laugh when my "fleeted" stacks of 50 and 60 colony ships get attacked, and their attacker just disappears into a puff of vapor. If it was a Dread that attacked, I'll lose 1 to 3 colony ships, tops.

Whee!

Wow, now that is some serious cheese.
