Different strats/Victory conditions?

I'm still thinking about buying sins, but first I would like honest opinions specifically in regards to the 4x of the game. Are there really other strats and victory conditions to utilize besides all out military strength/attacks? Is diplomacy a crucial aspect of the game? Is it possible to win while not having the most superior military force, or is this an RTS with minor 4x aspects that will always inevitability come down to crushing your opponents by force?

thx

You eventually have to crush your enemy by force.  There are many ways to go about this, but it is all about the conquering.

It doesn't have peaceful victory conditions like Galciv II or Civ IV.  It is more of an RTS, but a very good one.

Yeah that's kinda unfortunate IMO. But I went ahead and bought it anyway, it's a setback but I think I'll still enjoy it, thx.

You can technically win a game without invading enemy territory, though that would be very difficult and time consuming. On free for all games with more than 2 players, diplomacy can be a huge factor, as who and how many people you ally with will have a major effect on what you decide militarily and to some degree economically.
