Fences

I'm having a bugger of a time getting Fences installed on an XP machine.  I've got it installed and running perfectly on a vista box, but for some reason I'm getting the same error when I install/re-install/re-re-install the application.  After several re-installs, and re-boots, I'm getting the same error message:

Fences Does not appear to be loaded.

You may need to reinstall fences.

The configuration window pops up, and opens, but there are no fences to choose from in the layout.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

What service pack?

Installed through the standalone installer or Impulse?  If through Impulse, try verifying to see if it helps.

To verify the application through Impulse:

-Launch Impulse. Right click on the entry for the application and choose "Verify application"
-Impulse will check the integrity of the installed application. You should be given feedback as to the state of the installed application.
-If errors are found, an update should be made available in Impulse. You'll need to select another application and then reselect the trouble application to run the update.
(NOTE: This is a UI bug in Impulse, that should be fixed in a future update)
-Once the update completes, reboot your PC.

End of Zubaz's quote

Service Pack 3

And to answer Shirley's question - I just installed the standalone version of Fences.

Thanks in advance for all your help!

I had this problem and just fixed it.

Might not be the same for you but a while ago my explorer.exe got infected by some virus, so i had to make a copy of it and change a registry key so it would use the copy instead of explorer.exe

When i closed the process of the copy and opened explorer.exe, fences started working :)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Change Shell to explorer.exe
