Can't upload Avatars or Desktop Images

I have a prosonal image in my account settings but don't seem to have the option to upload an Avitar or a Desktop Image. The buttons are there, they are not greyed-out but they don't work. Is it something to do with my account status or what?

I have the same problem with just my avatar.....I can only upload it from my son's Macbook Pro.....button is there...not greyed out.....just does nothing on my 'puter....for a long time now....
