A few doubts

Hello, I read about this game a few days ago and I saw it was supposed to look something like DOTA a game mod of warcraft 3.

I'm a hardcore DOTA player and I thought I might enjoy playing this game too, so does anyone here played DOTA and what do you think about it ? Another thing is that I'm from Brazil and I wanna know if there will be a way to check where someone is playing from on multiplayer, or country rooms so that international games won't lag. And how will it work, someone will host the game and the others will join or there will be a server host and people will just join?

Thank you.

Mugizib.

If you are only interested in this game because you love DoTA then you will be Disappointed. I am not saying that Demigod will not be a good game but this just is not DoTA... it looks "something like it" but in the end it is a different game and shouldnt be judged as a DoTA clone.

It's like comparing Counter Strike with Unreal Tournament. They are both of the same genre but completely different in the way it's played. One game has the great graphics engine and alot of modern technologies and ideas implemented where as the other one is more simple and classic like a game of chess.

Have you even played dota?

Also, if you compare UT to CS you are really dumb and probably should not be playing either.

Dunno if I agree with the analogy, but I agree (as a DotA player) that Demigod, while based on the same principles, is NOT going to be a simple DotA clone. If that's what you're looking for, you may be dissapointed at first (I was), but you'll hopefully recognize Demigod as the excellent game it already is.

And, the multiplayer component is international; there is no "US west" vs "Asia" "realms" of playing - you can play with anyone.

I've played DotA and I've been with Demigod since the first beta. My first approach to Demigod was purely hoping for a DotA clone, and as such I was sorely disappointed. The look (not the graphics, don't confuse the two) of the games are similar, and the play styles are, superfluously, the same. But there just didn't seem to be the... depth I'd come to know and love from DotA present in Demigod.

I left the beta until 2B, when I picked it up again and started to play. This time, I wanted to learn the intricacies and play styles of each character, and actually start playing with how the items and equipment choices affected the characteristics and balance of the game. The game suddenly became spectacular. Deep and intense, yet fast flowing and combat heavy. The interaction between Generals and Assassins makes the game quite different to any similar game I've played.

If you want a DotA clone, look elsewhere. You'll only be disappointed here. But if you want something truly genre-breaking, you're in the right place.

Consider this, too. This is still only a Beta, they're still only giving us patches and pieces to test out the engine. And it's already the most polished, graphically appealing and plain fun game I've played in a long time.

That was my whole point, even though they are the same genre, you can barely compare them as they are so different.

Get a brain before you quote any of my posts please.

maybe he just wanted to say that UT and CS have way more differences than DG and DotA. At least thats what I think, since UT and CS have nothing to do with each other (apart from the point that u can shoot  :D   ). But as DG is inspired by DotA, u can compare them. Nevertheless i think Demogod should only be judged when it is ready and one has played it as intense as he has played DotA.

To your question: I have been playing DotA a lot until 6.52. And DG is really different. Nevertheless I like it. The only problem I see is, that if the netcode wont get as good as playing DotA with pickuplistchecker, the community will not grow.

Mugizib,

I'm Carioca myself, and have played dota quite a bit... As the others have said, Demigod is very different. My strong recommendation would be to wait for release in April and try out the demo. By then we will also know how the game is "turning out"... Boa Sorte!

What?  You just quoted me for no reason.  I said it because I was referring to somebody and the type of gamer they are.  Obviously you did not get that, maybe you should get the brain?  You quote me on the second thing but not the first, rofl.  Your first statement made you look like you have not even played dota.

DG isn´t based on DotA it´s based on the whole AoS idea like DotA or much other AoS maps in wc3 (DotA is the famous and best ém but dont forget DotA is also only an AoS map)
