last two updates via Impulse cannot load WB6 anymore

registry / antivirus/anti-spyware issues must reboot

Per my subject title, I am having issues after the last two WB6 updates (6.39 and 6.40).  Updated via Impulse, running Vista Premium (32), have been a registered OBDT user for several years and have not had major issues until now!  Am getting the following message after the update install and reboot:

WindowBlinds

"This machine MUST be rebooted after installing this version of WB6"

If you have rebooted and still get this message, you may need to disable any

registry protection / anti spyware apps you have and reinstall WindowBlinds as they may be incorrectly preventing the install.

After the 6.39 update and getting the above message / issue, I ran a registry clean / fix and windowBlinds did load after that!   After the latest update and getting the same message / issue the registry clean / fix is not helping anymore !

My AV software that I run is Avast! ver 4.8 Professional

My AntiSpywaye I run is SpyBot Search and Destroy ver 1.6.0

I would love to provide the diag info from WB6 but I cannot load WB6 to provide it !

Turn off your security apps and UAC. Reboot.  Turn everything back on.

I had the same issue last May, check out: https://forums.wincustomize.com/310420 Sorry to say I got out of it using SDC. I just updated with Impulse and am seeing the same thing as yo are. Rebooting brings the same screen back up and I cannot start WB. Should add I am using XP Pro SP3

UAC was and has been off.  My security apps, mainly Spybot-Search and destroy cannot be "turned off", but would have to be Uninstalled, something I really would not want to do since the security for all be other existing Apps would all be lost!  My AntiVirus program Avast can and was turned off per your suggestion!

My original post on this topic / problem I was wrong in stating that WB 6.40 was already installed, By reading in these forums about 6.40 I assumed that was the last update that I attempted, but not the case.  So my problems were with the previous 2 updates to WB version 6.40.  For some reason I opened Impulse, noticed the 6.40 update available and installed the update.   Turned Avast off, did another Registry clean / repair and also ran a Spybot clean and fix as well.   Rebooted my PC and now WB6 is loaded and running.

Don't know if installing WB 6.40 was the fix or taking your advice from your response to my problem was the fix, BUT it is fixed !

Thanx

I fixed my problem by turning off Beta and re-installing.  Apparently I still had it active from downloading fences.

Not sure if the version you are talking about is beta or not, but definitely turn it off it is to avoid problems like this.  the don't call it beta though.  Not at home now, but i think it is "Prerelease" or something similar.
