Impulse restore problems

Sins restores but update just downloads whole game again.

I have been having a few issues with Impulse not being able to restore games properly.  I perform the backup of the game as instructed in the forums,  then as a test, I uninstall the game from my machine using Impulse, then do a restore using the blue impulse button.

The game restores (although Impulse does generate an error after the restore completes and has to restart itself).  After Impuse has restarted, I see that sins has an update available (1.13 because I had backed up 1.12).  After I click update,  Impulse starts downloading 774.74MB.  I'm fairly sure this is too big to be the 1.13 patch.  It looks like it is trying to download the whole thing again.

What should I do to resolve this?  It seems to be a recurring issue.

Also,  why does impulse display wildly inaccurate download speeds?  I have DU meter running which monitors all connections coming into my machine and it reports a much lower speed than Impulse does.

This is the support email I got

You will need to manually remove the game folder, and delete 2 Registry Keys before you'll be able to re-install.

Go to C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Sins of a Solar Empire (or where ever you installed the game) and delete the main folder.

Then launch the System Registry (Start-> run, and type regedit)
Look for and delete the following Keys;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\sins
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stardock\Drengin.net\sinsentrench

Then, reboot your PC and go back to Impulse and try installing the base game. Make sure it installs to 1.13 version, test it out before then installing entrenchment.

The reg keys were wrong for me as I run 64 bit - check out this thread for my 64 bit fix - https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/338541
