Offset Docks

Offsetting the dock from the edge of the screen

How can I offset a dock from the edge of the screen? I want the dock to be set about 2mm or 10 pixels from the edge. Is this possible? Adjusting the image to be offset does not work as Objectdock appears to sense the bottom of the image and fits the dock to the edge of the screen accordingly. I want the dock to appear to 'float' above the bottom of the screen.

Advice appreciated.

A zoomer dock, yes. Right click on dock/ Dock properties/Positioning /Spacing & Alignment section, uncheck" Automatic distance from edge, then use the slider below to adjust the dock to where you want it. Press Close and your done.

For tabbed docks, simply "grab" a section of the dock that has no icons in it and manually drag it from the screen edge.

To expand on what HG said, you can also use the up/down or left/right arrow keys to fine tune the position.  Each hit of the key is 1 pixel.

The version of Objectdock is Plus 1.90.535. It is true that in "Spacing & Alignment" with the "Automatic distance from the edge" unchecked it is possible to position the dock pretty much anywhere on the chosen edge, and for the left/right arrow adjustment to move the dock pixel by pixel. However it does not permit movement away from the edge itself. On a dock positioned at the foot of the screen it will permit left and right adjustment but not up/down. The up or left arrows move the dock left and the right or down arrows moves the dock right only. I want to move the dock up and off the edge of the screen.

Im not sure why it is not working for you, But I can assure you, when I move the first slider below the Unchecked Automatic distance from edge box, the dock does go up and down for me away from the edge, not just slide across it. The slider below it moves it side to side/ left to right. I even went back made a fresh Zoomer dock and it worked just as I described.

this is very odd.

Either something is wrong with yours, or you are doing something wrong.  Be SURE the Automatic Distance From Edge checkbox is unchecked and that Reserve Screen Edge is unchecked.  You many need to manually use the slider to get it away from the edge at first, then use the arrows to fine tune it.

You are probably moving the wrong slider. The 3 things you need to be concerned about (Uncheck "Reserve edge of screen", Uncheck "Automatic distance from edge", and the "keep right on edge--keep far from edge" slider) are all circled in my screen shot below.

The "keep right on edge--keep far from edge" slider, which becomes active after you uncheck the "Automatic distance from edge" check box, is marked with the red arrow in my screen shot.

The computer I'm on at the moment only has the free version, hence the dialog box in the screeny; but the Plus version is very similar in concept.

Gentlemen, thank you for your quick replies. I was too busy concentrating on the  "align left - Centred - Align right" slider I totally missed the "Keep right on edge - Keep far from edge" slider above. Of course it works you were quite right. Thanks very much for your help.
