Connecting my work machine with my home machine.

Connection Issues

Hi,

I am using Stardock Multiplicity Pro 1.02 I have it install on my work laptop which is connected to my work netwok via VPN.

I also have it installed on my home machine and I would like to connect the two.

I added port 30564 both UDP and TCP to port forwarding in my D-Link roughter setup with the IP of my home machine.

Both machines are running Windows XP SP3.

When I try to connect using my laptop it tells me "Multiplicity is unable to connect to secondary machine"

"Error: Unable to contact machine (Firewall?). You should ensure your firewall allows multipl.exe and multipl32.exe access to the network and that port 30564 is open."

When I am in the office my work laptop is able to connect to my other work machine just fine, so it is probably something on my home machine.

Multiplicity is configured in the windows firewall.

I am in a similar boat, only I have no expectation of Multiplicity being able to work between my work PC connected via VPN and my home machines.  The reason why is your work VPN, which does not allow you to communicate with your local non-work PCs.  If it did, then this would be a security risk your corporate masters would not like.  It's the same reason you aren't able to print to a local network printer or cannot browse files on your non-work PCs while connected to your VPN.
