Go back to original to start over?

Is there a way?

First off I did look through the posts, and even searched for "go back to original skin", but nothing was found.  OK so my first try at "editing" an existing skin went well, but after I changed what I wanted, it promted me to "save changes", and I did.  Now I closed everything, and when I went back to edit the same one again, I can only edit the existing one.  Is there a way to go back to the very original skin I started with, or do I need to work with what I already changed?  I don't know the original specs, so I'm stuck with what I changed it to.  Can I just delete the skin I edited, and re-download it again to start over?

What kind of skin? Windowblinds? DesktopX? Knowing what kind of skin would help greatly in troubleshooting this. >_>

Yes.

When editing you should probably save what you've changed in a separate folder with notes and dates.

You should also save the original skin in another folder (besides the one SD puts on your computer).

* edit: This refresh rate is gonna drive me further nutz than I already am.

You have written over the original skin. So you will need to download the skin again. If you want to edit an existing skin without loosing the original, choose save as from the File menu (upper left) and give your edited skin a new name.

Note: you need to do this before applying the skin.

Again, this depends on where the original skin is. In DesktopX, when I save edits, if I choose save as, it allows for saving to the default DX theme folder, as opposed to the folder where I downloaded the original file to. In which case I would still have the original too.  This is why I ask what kind of skin.

Ah yes.  I see that now.  I edited a Windowblinds skin I downloaded.  If I save it in a different folder, and name it say "original vista", and then I edit it, and save it, and don't like it, how do I get the original one I saved back into Windowblinds?  I deleted the edited one, and I tried to just copy the original one to the Windowblinds folder on my C drive, but it doesn't show up when I open Windowblinds as a selectable skin.

OK sorry to bother you again, but I just noticed the one I "saved as" a little further down the line, so everything is good again.  Thanks for you help guys!

Windowblind skins have to be in a certain folder in order to apply them. You can't save the skin in a different place

I assumed it was a windowblind skin not a DX as it is in the SkinStudio section of the forum ;)

Looks like he has it worked out anyway :)

Hit the rebuild list button.

as well you can create a copy of the original skin when you open it in Skin Studio. if you do this you can rename it at that point. then you don't have to worry about making sure you use the 'save as' function.
