Windowblind Shadows

Very happy user of Object Desktop and have gotten many compliments on how hot some of the skins compliment my machine (NP9262 Sager running Vista x64). However, certain blinds, such as the pic below of "Dream Loricae," have these strange shadows along the window borders. Other skins this applies to include Boxxi's classic "The BlackBoxx" and "Broken Aero," where the broken area along the taskbar and active window has the same grey outline. I suspect it may be a compatibility issue with Vista as my XP machine has no problem with these skins. Is there any way to get them to display properly on my Vista machine?

Thanks in advance

Looks like the blur effect on the per pixel window frames.

Try this:

Open the windowblinds configuration. Select transparency and blur.

From the drop down select "I want to change how the window frames look". Select "Never blur the background even if the skin has blur enabled"

Disclaimer:

I haven't tested this...... ;)

Alternatively this can be fixed in skin studio, but try that first.

Also; Do you have Windows FX enabled?

WindowFX won't run on Vista.

Thank you very much for the quick answers.

1. I currently already have "Never blur background" enabled. Great idea though.

2. DigitalCHET is correct: WindowFX does not run on Vista and thus it is not running on this rig.

3. I have another screenshot illustrating the same issue with "Broken Aero." Notice how the problem is solely with the active window. Again, this issue only manifests on my Vista machine; all these skins manifest just fine on my XP comp.

Thanks again for the great suggestions. I await some more great advice!

looks like they have blur turned on in the skin, sometimes the 'never blur' ...never works....or you havent turned it off correctly..

try clicking 'Reset to defaults' then apply a skin.

Many themes that don't conform to Aero dimensions may have this problem

It must be something with WB Config as it affects all skins.. and thats how it looks when blur is used instead of semi transparency in Skinstudio... you get that grey.... Check your settings again in the blur transparency tab... else try a reinstall :)

Hmmm... rechecked blur transparency settings once again and confirmed that they were all turned off, then reset and re-apply... still had problem.

Reinstalled and repeated blur/transparency options, and now it works perfectly!  :D

Big thank you to all of the community for help with this bizarre little issue, especially (in order of appearance)

If you guys have any skins you've done, I'd be glad to check them out and promote your work on my machine! Thanks again.

EDIT: Wow, I just realized, you are THE vStyler who made Vienna Rapture, one of my all-time favourites. And Voidcore, maker of Anonymity, which I use now on my XP machine.  I am honoured to have had your advice and support! I feel like I just got some free punching advice from Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton! BTW, @voidcore, your skin goes AWESOME with "Inducer" winamp skin in windowshade mode from skinconsortium.com. Thought you might want to check it out, it's pretty hot.
