What stuff can you add from the Library without 'changing' the game?

What I mean is if I go throught the library I guess I can download say all the Logos, put them in the right directory and if I want to I now have a large collection of logos I can select from.

What about the other stuff :-

 

1) Ship designs, if I add some will I just have more ships to choose from when the correct techs are learned as well as the original ones. Or are any other changes

 

2) Mods - I guess they all just sit in the mods directory until I actually turn one on. And I guess same or maps.

 

3) Races - what happens with these as there seems to be limited space on the races selection screen.

 

4) What other downloads are there?

1) & 2) Both, Yep... that' s about it.

3) You're probably refering to Opponents instead of the regular pre-defined group of default Twelves from which only 9 can be activated at runtime. The difference is that with any opponents YOU decide to create or use from 1--Mod folders or from 2--the regular C:\Doc... folder (in that case, they are automatically saved for later use with data & values you choose to give them) **can** all be added to the optional selection listing (right side bar, Portraits) and be playable.

4) I'd recommend readmes and careful reading of any info provided by those who dumped their stuff in the library - as an indication that what you might D/L suits your needs. One thing you SHOULD have at a minimum is Netriak's Galactopedia... for anything else, check for file upload Dates & compatibility issues.

Does anyone know for mainly ship designs is 1.97 TA the same as 2.2 (or is it 2.02 cant remember) TA

Ship Designs are usable across the various versions. The only treouble you would have is if your tried to take a design from DA and try and use it in TA.

Something you built in TA 1.9 should be fine in 2.02.

How do you when a mod will be incompatible with the metaverse? I haven't used mods for that reason.

Well any ships that use a Mod, such as Kryo's hull mod obviously won't be able to be used on the MV.

You can still play with a mod on the MV. It will be flagged of course but will still submit.

What may be of interest to you though is the Alt-Meta makes no disticntion. All games asre accepted and classified.
