Wow your doing the exact thing that will get people to help, swearing, name calling and acting like an ass. Three things that will sure net you some well thought out responses, such as this.

For starters, what did you exactly buy? Some info on that would help. IIRC the game is not pressed on DVD, unless the EU version is, i would'nt know.

you can always D/L Impulse reg the game their with your serial and D/L the game that way.

Either way, some patients and manners will get you alot further than your rant.

Ultimate Edition comes in DVD and DVD drive is listed on the system requirements + in the front cover.

Edit: Oops, put the wrong cover in there by mistake. Shouldn't matter though as it's pretty much is the same in the UE.

There ya go, thanks LDSei. Though the OP did not mention what version he has. Let alone What game..ie DL or the Expansions.

Regardless though, that PC DVD Rom is pretty right in your face, so if that is the issue here then...well....  :waaaa:

I don't believe there is Impulse support yet for the EU as it was distrubted by Kalypso.

EU has been up; I think UE finally got up but I'm not positive.

Damn stupid names...I keep getting mixed up between the two.

UE (Kaypso version) was put on about a week ago.

I had a look on Amazon.com as Targer is not a UK shop as far as I know and all the original GalCiv2:Dread Lords are CD-ROM except the Game of the Year Edition

The only reason I know of a game not working in a CD drive (RW or Normal) is if it is a SCSI drive but them it would not work from the install due to copy protection compared with not showing up in the drive at all.

thanks all, sorry about my manners i'm just really frustrated. yea the game is called galactic civilizations II "dread lords" says its the 2006 game spy game of the year...hmm sayss its by stardock? but yea i didnt notice pc dvd rom under system requirements , its not there . but it is on the front....guess i never bothered to look at that before. thanks again and i'll try to download the game off the net. then use my serial number on the back of the cd case to register it. if that dosent work i'll just post serial number here for someone and throw the game in the garbage. i bought it for 10 bucks, but i'd still like to play. thanks again

Or you can register it *first* and just download it directly from us. :)

Download Impulse, install and log in with your forum account. Click the (?) in the top corner, pick registrations. Hit the add button and register the game. Back out to the My Games tab, click the game, click Install.

Been having a look at some game boxes in the UK and :-

1) Games in a 'Games for Windows' box (the ones with the white stripe at the top and the windows logo) only seem to mention DVD on the bottom of the spine.

2) Ones that have the DVD or CD logo thing on the front seem to have it also in the spec at the back, but I have notoced this is a different DVD/CD logo compared with US games I have seen on Amazon etc.

3) Other packaging - some have the drive in the specs some dont.
