Is transparency slowing me down?

I just downloaded this software, and I am trying to use a windows vista like theme which has transparent bars as its default settings.  It seems to run fairly slow whenever I try to use it conjunction with other 3rd party software, namely DeskSpace (3D virtual desktop).  It sometimes takes awhile for Windowsblinds to redraw the taskbar/windows when I switch between desktops, and the support team from DeskSpace claim its not an issue with their software, but rather with Windowsblinds itself.  Any help is appreciated, because I would really like to be able to use both of these programs together.

If its of any help, here are my system specs:
Windows XP SP2 32bit
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz
4 GB Ram (2.75gb for WinXP)
nForce 650i Ultra
GeForce 8800 GTS (320mb)
700w PSU
Hitachi HDS722525VLSA80 (320gb)

Go into WindowBlinds configuration and copy and paste your system information here.

It's possible that WBs doesn't want to play nice (compatibility) with you other 3rd party software.  Try turning off the other stuff and see what happens.  Have you tried Stardock Virtual Desktops?

I use deskspace as well and never had a problem with anything like that. Actually, WindownBlinds has never slowed my pc down.

I just tested Deskspace on a worst case scenario (Vista 64 bit, Quad Core CPU w/8 gb ram, 2 display adapters, three monitors, every custom tweak imaginable from Fences to Windowblinds) and despite some iteresting behavoirs, it does appear to work without any noticeable slowdowns relating to my Wraith-skinned windows.  I can drag them to the screen edges and watch the desktops roll around as expected.   Quite a trip on this setup, I must say, but no slowdown seen here.

My setup is similar to yours in many ways, btw.

In testing, I found that the Display/Video/Smooth Cube Edges setting slowed the entire system down to an unworkable level, so you might want to make sure that is NOT checked.
