Bootskin Pro not applying correct skin

Hello!

First of all I'm sorry if this has been covered in another topic - I've tried to search for a solution, but with no results.

I had the same error earlier (regarding the Locale-language selection) but fixed it when I installed the correct languagepack for Vista - but now when I try to apply different bootskins, I keep getting the same - a blue/green mixture of colours (similar to Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis).

I don't even have this bootskin.. So I have no clue what the problem is and what to do - since I don't get any errors while applying a skin.

Also regarding the new Bootskin Pro Beta - I've read the stickie in this forum - but haven't found where to download it.

I'm currently using Bootskin Pro 1.00.035 that I got bundled with Object Desktop.

Sincerely

Roma

First update using Impulse.

Then try again.

I'm having the exact same problem, I'm using vista ultimate & my bootskin pro is up to date on impulse. Any other suggestions?

If you're certain that you have tried what was posted here, then please post which language version of Vista you're using, the version number of BootSkin Pro Impulse says you have installed, and the regional and locale settings that you have set under Control Panel->Regional and Language Options in the Location and Administrative tabs.  If there is any confusion about any of this, please let us know so we can clarify further.  Thank you.

Hi again.

English Vista Ultimate with Service Pack 1

Swedish Locale-setting (I have the language-pack installed) with Sweden as location.

Impulse tells me I have 1.01.038 installed, while Bootskin Pro itself tells me I got 1.00.035.

Sincerely

I'm using the english version of vista, bootskin version 1.01.038 & I'm using the uk english local setting, but it's not changing from the bluey green bootskin that isn't even installed on the software.

I have exactly the same problem - no skin is applied regardless of what I try to do. (same as above)

It just DOES NOT WORK... no skins are applied besides that blue-green boring thing...

After a fresh uninstall and re-install, Impulse says I have version ...038, but the actual application says ...024

Obviously, something isn't going right here...

Hope this can be fixed soon...

thx

Same problems happend to me.

I had to uninstall bootskin, reboot, delete the files in C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\BootSkin then launch a registry cleaner. reboot. reinstall, and reboot and.... It works :sun:

Even if impulse say 1.01.038 and bootskin 1.01.024

I have the same problem. However here the details again, maybe there is a new bit:

when applying the skin the bootskin pro program said it has been successfully applied. Then restart the program and its still the default windows bootskin active.

Rebooting leads to that blue/green color mess (btw: this is the same bootskin you have when restart from hibernate mode).

I have Vista Business 32bit, UAC active, all locales are set to German (even those non-unicode stuff).

Strange again: BootSkin Pro tells me that it is version 1.00.035. Impulse doesn't tell me something about any update, even after refresh.

So I uninstalled, reboot, installed again -> same version, same problem.

Not really sure what you want to tell me with that hint, but if you mean to set the locale for non-unicodes programs to "English (US)" than I did that and tried: -> problem persists, still no solution.

I'm a bit confused because this suggested solution should just applied in this case: "For users with English versions of Vista, you may have to set this locale to "English (United States)"" (stated here: https://forums.stardock.com/331792). And I don't have an English version.

Anyway! More ideas or hints?

Another strange thing is, that I have an old version of BootSkin Pro : v1.00.035. When I start Impulse it shows me that there is an update available (v1.01.038)  but this hint disappears as soon as Impulse is logged in and finished retrieving information. Is that normal? Shouldn't I check with the newest version?

The boot you describe the aurora type without the progress bar happens when msconfig boot tab gets altered.

Go to start button, type msconfig in the search box then click the msconfig.exe that appears under programs. System configuration opens up, go to boot tab and ensure no gui boot is NOT ticked - if it is ticked you will always get the aurora type boot courtesy of windows OS.

If the box is clear I have no solution.

OK, I managed to update to that Beta 1.01.024 (shown by BootSKin Pro about box) or 1.01.038 (shown by Impulse). The result is that I can change the skin now. But BootSkin itself doesn't show me the actual applied Skin, it alsways shows me the Windows Default Skin. I'm not sure if this is "normal" or just a "bug".

Anway, I can live with that, as long as it is working. I don't change it every day.
