iTunes Support

iTunes is completely nonskinnable, especially any of the updated ones.  This, along with several other customer non-friendly issues caused me to invest in an alternative, Media Monkey, which does everything iTunes does, and IS skinnable, accepts whatever Windowblind I apply, AND accepts more file types besides mp3 (such as FLAC).

It's not that Stardock/Windowblinds doesn't support iTunes, it's that iTunes will not accept Windowblinds.  Do yourself a favor, and get an iTunes alternative.

it would still be nice if it could be looked into further. It would defintely entice a larger customer base if itunes, used by millions of people could be skinned to their liking

I've done an extensive Google search of the issue, because I would have liked to have iTunes skinned also.  The problem, like I said, isn't with Stardock, it's with Apple.  Apple refuses to budge on their software.  You have two alternatives: 1) Get Media Monkey and ditch iTunes.  2) Use an anternative media player for your computer to listen to songs at your computer (i.e., Xion), and just use iTunes to store/sync your songs to your iPod.

Not always FF uses non normal menus that cannot be skinned, QuickTime interface cannot be dragged out to resize in some reincarnations of it and that indicates non-skinnable.

Ask Jobs, but remember he wants it his way.

That may be true . . but is it worth it for Stardock to spend time and money making it work when Apple may change everything in the next build.  I'd say not.

In the meantime, it IS possible to skin iTunes (essentially by reshacking the binary I suppose).  You can google "itunes skins" etc.  Here is one link I found with some examples.

Skins stopped working in iTunes at version 7.3, I think, and since it automatically updates, (or maybe I had it switched on to automatically update...anyway on my computer it automatically udpated), the skinnability function was killed.  The current download available at the Apple site is for iTunes 8, which is completely unskinnable, and that's when I went on my quest to find an iTunes alternative.

I love Itunes, but the GUI sux. The fact they dont support skinnig of it just adds to the suk factor. So I use OD docklets and other means to run Itunes without actually having to see it..some of the DX Media players controll Itunes i think.

 

While skinning Itunes would be cool, I do not think there would be enough demand to merit SD trying to bother messing with it on every update etc.

lol the GUI really does suck, it's confusing, and massive and UGLY, I only use the thing to copy my own CD's, since my son broke the dang Ipod

Yes, true.  I should have mentioned no one has skinned the newest v8...yet.
