QQ: Vasari's economy

So I heard Vasari can keep their economy going with just one Edit: empire lab. I think that was because Vasari has more money for completing bounty (Expert Bounty Hunting) research. But I don't really know how to put bounty/how I am supposed to use it. Can someone explain it to me?

1st - you cannot place bounty on yourself.

2nd - bounty accomplishes 2 things

.........1.  The pirates will attack whomever has the highest amount of bounty placed on them at the time the pirate attack is launched.

.........2.  Whenever you attack an enemy that has bounty placed on them and kill anything that enemy has (ie structures, ships, etc...), you get more credits based on what you kill.  These credits come off of the bounty that is placed on that enemy.

3rd - to place bounty, you need to go to the pirates screen and click on the button next to the enemy you wish to place the bounty on.

Hope this helps.

Ah, so is there anyway to do this with pirates off/destroyed?

The bounty system still works with pirates off if there are at least 3 players, assuming no peace treaties exist between any two players.

Collecting bounty is not a very dependable or efficient method of earning credits, considering the amount of resources you would require to build ships to destroy targets. The Vasari are more of a resource-centred economy, since their scouts can capture neutral extractors, giving Vasari players an early resource advantage in situations where there are neutrals available for capture. Improvements to extraction rate, though each individual level provides less of an increase than one increase provided by Advent or TEC research, apply to both types of resources and in the end, only takes 8 levels of research to max out both extraction rates (versus 12 for the other factions).

Your credit income will primarily come from planet taxes for the start, then depending on how long you can make a trade port chain and how many ports you build, it may shift towards your trade port network. However, the Vasari have their port at Tier 4 (versus Tier 2 and 3 for TEC and Advent respectively), so you will not be able to make a large number of credits to begin with. This is slightly compensated for with Enslaved Labour, which can decrease credit costs of ships and structures by 4%/8%.

Thank you very much for that explanation. I am aware that they are more metal and crystal heavy, but I do sometimes require a bit more cash and I was wondering if expert bounty hunting could solve that problem since trade routes are 4th tier.

Also, I tend to focus primarily on military technology and I don't really know which of the vasari imperial tech's are good. So thank you for answering that as well.

They do get refineries earlier.

If you can secure some good location connected to several gravity wells with extractors (don't forget about neutral ones), refineries can be exceptionally profitable. Earn cash by selling extra resources.

Yeah, I guess I don't use my extractors very well because I don't get that much of a bonus. Just for refrence, what is your usually metal/crystal gathering rate (I know it varies map to map) in a medium size map?

Does anyone know what the rate is? I would look through the code but I don't know how to do that. Also, does Expert Bounty Hunting just deplete the bounty faster or does it add credits that you collect?

For example:500 credits on someone's head. Lets say you get credits equal to experience points given by the ships. Do you get 500 credits + bounty bonus (12.5%) getting 562 or do you get 500 faster.

The bounty you collect will depend on what you have killed and how much total is placed on the player. Usually, bounties remain relatively low except in the cases where a human player places a very large amount on another player's head or an Advent player with Karmic Retribution has his/her trade ships killed very frequently. The targets that would have the most bounty would be planets or high leveled capital ships and the lowest would be trade ships or strike craft.

According to the entity files for Expert Bounty Hunting, it increases the amount collected by 12.5%/25%.
