Impulse "Preparing Download"

Why is it that when I try to download updates with Impulse, it'll say "Preparing Download" for up to 30min before finally downloading the update? Stardock Central didn't have such a long time before downloads began, so I'm kinda wondering how the heck is Impulse supposed to be an improvement over Stardock central when it takes even longer to download anything.

Click on the Orb in the upper left.

Click on preferences.

Click on connection.

Uncheck the BITS setting.

Restart Impulse.

Except I've already tried that. to no effect.

It may just be your internet connection. If your computer is portable, move it closer to the internet hub.
