error importing skin file

I cannot get the new bootskin to work I gives me an error anytime i try and load a bootskin

"There was an error importing the skin file. Possible causes are a corrupt skin file, or a read only skin directory."

If I download an old bootskin xp bootskin it will let me load and apply it but then it will not work when I restart my computer.

Any of the new bootskin files cannot be imported due to the above error message

Are you absolutely certain you're using BootSkin Pro and not the old BootSkin?  I ask because BootSkin Pro should not even allow you to try and use a BootSkin XP file, let alone try to apply it and I don't even think that particular error message exists in the application.  In any case, the old BootSkin XP files will not work on Vista and I highly recommend that if you are using the old version of BootSkin that you uninstall it and do not use it... ever.  If however you are certain that you're using BootSkin Pro, please post a screenshot of the error message.
