WindowBlinds and MyColors - What is the difference?

I'm sorry if I may sound stupid, but what is the difference between this 2 applications?

I have a copy of WindowBlinds and now I'm curious about this MyColors. In my point of view they both do the same thing? Or did I miss something?

If anyone can explain it to me I would be thankful.

Basically,

WindowBlinds will allow you to apply all the WindowBlinds skins in the WindowBlinds gallery.

MyColors will allow you to apply your MyColors skins only

WindowBlinds is a software utility that allows users to completely change the look and feel of Microsoft Windows. It works by applying new visual styles, called skins, across the entire user interface (title bars, push buttons, start menu, taskbar, etc.) of the operating system.

MyColors is a utility that allows you to change the graphic images that appear on your computer monitor: wallpaper, window frames, icons, start menu, taskbar, gadgets and more.  These graphics are referred to as a "Theme" that corresponds to a wide variety of categories, such as: sports teams, automotive, holiday, inspired and more.  Themes are also known as "skins", because they cover your desktop with various colors and features.

So... WindowBlinds do everything that MyColors do but better and more flexible?

Depends on who you ask. I feel its the other way around. With Windowblind skins you can create more content for your desktop to match the skin....with MyColors skins they are encrypted so you can't.

Not quite... but yes as far as applying WindoBlinds skins

MyColors can be considered a theme manager that apply a theme which can change:

your windows, start panel, taskbar using WindowBlinds set for MyColors which will apply your MyColors windowblind skin

your icons, using IconPackager set for MyColors

your cursors, using CursorFX set for MyColors

MyColors is for 'one click and you're done' but you can only apply which ever MyColors themes you have

so if you have one MyColors theme, the windowblind skin that come with it is the only one you can use

Whereas with just WindowBlinds I can go through at least 4000 skins

the iconpackager part of Mycolors will apply the icons that come with mycolors

with just Iconpackager I got the whole gallery to choose from

But I can't apply any MyColors themes without MyColors installed (afaik)

Windowblinds is the application that changes the way Windows look's. (Mostly Explorer).

Iconpackager is the application that applies custom icons.

DesktopX is the application that runs the widgets/gadgets. (clocks,weather displays,calendars,etc)

These combined with other Stardock skinning programs, make up the MyColors desktop theming application. Basically MyColors is WB,IP,DX and other popular SD applications all rolled up in to one.

MyColors is the new one click way to customize your desktop with pre built suites. Many folks did not want to have to get to involved working with different applications to achieve a custom desktop look. So SD decided to make an easy to use desktop customization application, to apply the various skins needed for that fully customized Desktop look. Hence MyColors was born.

Basically MyColors applies suites including but not limited to WindowBlinds skins.

MyColors = WindowBlinds + IconPackager + Gadgets

WindowBlinds = WindowBlinds

However, MyColors can only run MyColors themes.
