Has anyone tried flying between planets or *gasp* even stars without using the phase drive? Just usuing the normal slow sublight? Me and my friend were talking about it, and how it could be a good sneak attack method (long sneak attack) because then you wouldn't get the 'phase jump detected' thingy when you're en route to an enemy system. So, has anyone tried it? is it even possible? I know you ca nfly really far out of a grav well, but i've never tried going all the way.

A good thing would be that if you are going without phase lanes your ships would take damage over time (damage of no supply lines and falling air and food) and so there would be risk in this sneak attack with the smaller frigates with few supplies dying of first and the larger ships with large holds having greater chance of reaching target.

 

This would also symbolise the tired crew after months of voyaging on rations finally arriving in the ships damage.

But to prevent that, there would be specialized supply ships that you could build that would resupply the fleets on long transits.
