Trying to get Earth in a custom map

I have been playing with the GC2 map editor, making cool maps for future games. But I have found a problem I need help with.

I want to make a map so that the Terran Alliance is one of my opponents. But the problem I am having is that I want them to have the actually Earth.png to show up as Earth and no just a random planet generated by the map editor.

Is there a way to fix this, either though the map editor itself, or maybe going into the XML of the map file itself to fix this problem?

This would also help me be able to use all the GC2 civilzation home world maps as well

I ran into the same issue and made a thread about it, and was told that it couldn't be done.  I've yet to find a way to get the real planets to show up, so they may have been right.

Sadly, the map editor doesn't pick up its resources (graphics, values, data) from the same files & folders as when a random game (sandbox mode) is started or played.

This is one "flaw" which i also wish SD coders could find a solution for... since custom maps lose all of their true meanings (think creation of campaign stuff here too!) if a mod folder actually HAS a number of specific elements loaded with its own CustomPlanets.xml file.

Weird situation. Hopefully, someone will fix or tweak this issue -- eventually, maybe. But, it has been asked for months without any luck.

Hmm could it be possible to mod the editor itself? Or can I-Mod's GC2 IDE choose the texture for the planets? I had an idea for a custom map/scenario... but reading this ruined my idea. What's the point of map editor if it can't do anything.

There is no option to get the customplanet.xml into the map.

This  requires changes in the games source code.

I could implement your request into the galciv2ide, however the created map   would load, but all texture assigning tag would be ignored, hence no textures to display ingame, just the default.
