Ok, i know that the Vasari Navigators can build refineries on asteriods, but what are the advantages of the other 2 races as far as collecting resources. Can the other 2 get resources from uninhabital areas (plasma fields) that have asteriods? Thanks for your help.
yes, the other races can get the neutral asteroid refineries, but not as easily as the Vasari.
In order for the TEC or Advent to get the refineries, they have to build colony ships and use their "Capture extractor" ability
The advantages of the other two races are that they take less civ labs to get their trade ports. Vasari are the worst with 4, but they have the advantage of being able to grab neutrals with their scouts instead of the slow, vulnerable, colony ships.
Plus the Vasari can get the refinery faster 3 labs I think and then sell resources at the black market for money.
TEC gets their Refinery at Tier 4, Vasari is at Tier 3.
However, the TEC Refinery has no research prerequisites, but the Vasari one requires 3 levels of research in resource extraction rate.
To follow what Cykur is saying, the vasari have the advantage of grabbing up neutrals with their scouts. However, their scouts cost more (it is the ONLY scout that requires metal to build) and it takes up 3 fleet supply instead of 2. It is also the WEAKEST scout. 1v1 against either an advent or TEC scout and the vasari scout will die.
But the extractor capturing ability does pay off in the long run though
