Upgrading old ships... Not sure how it works.

I've got a dozen or so scouts (class I) scattered around the map, but have now done enough research to unlock scout (class III). Is there an easy way to upgrade all of the older model ships to the newest one, without having to find and select every ship, etc, one at a time? I see in the shipyard there's a list that displays all of the available ship types and how many of each I own, and an 'upgrade' button below it. Well, perhaps I'm just not doing it right, but I tried selecting scouts (class I) on that list and then clicking the button, but it seems to expect me to design my own model using the basic scout design as a sort of template, which I do not want to do.

select a ship of the class you wish to upgrade on the starmap....

when it shows you the cost there is an option on that screen to upgrade all ships of that class and it will show you the total cumulative cost....

Thanks, Steellwaters. That's a huge help, much less tedious now. :)

If there isn't also a way to do the same thing from the shipyard list, it would be nifty if they would implement that, perhaps sometime.
