Trouble Making a .Dream I made work

So I have Windows Ultimate 32bit and I thought the Dream Maker would be really cool. I am trying to take a video from my camera and make it into a background, like think a Harry Potter Picture where the person goes in and out of the frame, ANYWAYS, I have no problem making the file, but when I try to set any of the videos I make in this way nothing happens. I click and click and click and it does nothing, then I click a premade dream and it works! Why won't the ones I made work and is there any way to make them work?

The original file is a "Video Clip" file and 109mb

The dream says it's a "Stardock DeskScapes Animated Wallpaper" file and is also 109mb (except the first one which somehow turned into a 30mb file)

the original is a .avi  sorry, I'm a bit green with computers, I lookat at the properties of the video and it says " "Video Clip" (.AVI) "

and I'm not sure what you mean by "encode to"

I plugged my Samsung Digimax D53 into my Dell Latitude D630 and copied the file into my videos and it just is a .avi, I didn't do anything to it until I tried to make it a .dream with the dream maker program

I'm just throwing out all the specifics I can think of cause I have NO idea what to say to help you help me

:pout:

It needs to be converted(aka encoded) to a wmv or mpg file.  Open the avi file in windows movie make and have movie maker create a wmv movie file.

did that... now it just turns the background black, but it made the file considerably smaller: 19.3mb

any other tips? Does it have anything to do with the fact that there is sound in the file? I'll try and take that out now too...
