The diplomacy screen.

I'm a little confused about something on this screen. I thought that when a player gets the little bullet hole through his picture, that meant he's been defeated. But I just finished a 5v5 game where the only player WITH the bullet hole was the final opponent I was fighting; the other 4 had been completely wiped out but you couldn't tell that from the screen. The only reason I really care is because of pirates; you can't put bounty on these players, so I ended up eating the pirate attacks near the end.

So, what's the deal there?

When you have teams, you need to kill all the members of that alliance before all of them are considered defeated. However, each individual member of that alliance can surrender independently from the rest of the alliance. That AI that has that bullet hole through their picture chose to surrender, while the other four chose to stick it to the end, even if they were crushed.

But the one who "surrendered" continued pumping out ships and fighting for about 15 minutes. Not only that, but if he surrendered when the other 4 were dead, shouldn't that have ended the map?

Not trying to be argumentative, I'm just confused. Thanks for posting.
