single star for a shorter game and multi-star for a longer game. IMHO I find shorter games much more intense than multi-star. If you are new to SOASE then I would say small map single star, but if you like huge space battles that might make your computer lag, then go multi-star.

I like to play with 2 stars, 4 vs 4. I just ends up being huge battles at wormholes and at the stars, which I think is awesome.

I lean towards single stars, where I can work hard at surrounding my opponents and taking them down.

I've made my own maps with 1 star (with about 12 planets) for each player.   The largest I've done is 3 stars.

I like to get into the fight fairly quick so singlestar maps with around 20-40 planets are the best in my opinion.

For a serious game, the single stars are best.  For 3v3 go with the Large Random Single Star.  For 4v4 I prefer the Huge Random Single Star.

Personally, I also have a soft spot for the Large Random Multistar in 4v4 but that doesn't always result in a good game.  The problem is that the worm holes and the multiple stars destroy any concept of having a "flank" or a "front line".  Sometimes it's a good game, other times you end up with big fleets that run around, often refusing to fight head on.

It's too bad we can't talk about custom maps since the game won't auto-download them (for online multiplayer).

Overall, my favorite game is the Huge Random Single Star in 4v4 or 5v5.

Against an AI i like Singlestar maps, because on Multistarmaps the ai on hard is just to weak. I never lost a Game after i had my first galaxy for my own. singlestar maps are more challeging against more ais i think.

But im not a programer. For me its a hard fight to win on a middlesized map with one star against 2 Teamed AIs...

But a Singlestarmap is an advantage for vasari, because the can defend it very well trough his Phasegates in later gameplay. On Multiplaye with friends i love morestar galaxies too. :)
