Wan't to contact makers of Aveyond (Backdoor.SDBOT virus in main exe)

Can admin help me with this one

Hi I have noticed that Aveyond (Particularly the Aveyond.exe file) has a Virus in it (Backdoor.sdbot), I use nortons internet security 2008. Also somebody using NOD32 antivirus has the same issue. I guess not that many people have bought aveyond or else i am sure more cases would crop up. The real issue is that I would like to contact the makers/programmers of Aveyond (As previously suggested to me by Impulse staff) but I don't know how to conatct them. I would greatly appreciate it if you could give me the contact details for them so maybe we all can get a clean Aveyond.exe. I am sure if you check your master copy that you distribute you will find it too ! Help would be great. Thanks

Oh yes I would just like to add that i have deleted all traces of the download many times and re-downloaded and re-installed and the same virus crops up during installation / trying to run it ! I have 350 games all legitimate no copies and I have never had a virus from any of them, so I doubt it is a fake reading, if so then NOD32 has the same "fake" result. Cheers

I also had the same issue with trying to reinstall Aveyond.  McAfee found the same virus and I was unable to complete the install through impulse or SDC.  I did not have the problem when the game was originally installed through SDC and was able to play the game without any difficulties.  I have since built a new computer and have not tried to install the game with AVG antivirus running so I don't know if that program will also indicate there is a virus.  I did run this by stardock support some months ago.

It's a false positive.  Don't sweat it.  You can trust Stardock.

This is a false-positive and we've notified the Antivirus developers.

End of Zoomba's quote
Why do you think it is a false positive, have you installed the game and let this "False Positive" virus do it's dirty work. I have found that the virus is real and does all the things that that backdoor.sdbot supposedly does. Check your registry and check out the knowlledge base regarding that virus, I have found that the virus appears to be the real McCoy !!!!!!

I have found out that the makers of aveyond is http://www.amaranthia.com/ I tried to contact them the other day but suddenly their server went down, have just found that it is back up now, and will tell them the story. Hopefully they can scan their master (But I too had aveyond working a while ago with stardock, no virus) and see if the master is infected (providing it is not a false positive - but best to cover all options) maybe they could try scanning with Nortons or NOD32 or McAffee on their master and see what happens ? maybe do a CRC check on their master and impulses master. Anyway will go contact them now and tell them the good news !
