Impulse is saying that "Downloading Impulse Update-Paused" and somehow it won't unpause itself.  does anyone know what's going on?

I can't say I have seen that occur before. Click on the Stardock Orb > Preferences > Folders > Reset Data. See if this clears the issue for you so that you can restart the download. Let me know if you still get the same trouble. If you do please be sure to check for any security software that might not list Impulse as trusted.

When I try to go into preferences, it says "Cannot perform this action at this time.  Please try again after Impulse is done validating registrations".  Unfortunately, Impulse doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Check the top few entrys in the error log. You can find it under the "?" button in the top right corner. Copy and paste them here if you like and maybe we can find the source.

A 404 error to the update sounds like a bad corruption error. Please uninstall Impulse and reinstall with the version found here:

http://www.impulsedriven.com/impulse_setup_full.exe

 

Let me know if you still have troubles like that after you reinstall and restart the system.
