display settings integration turn off possible? Corel WPO X4 uses legacy theme bc of the integration

Hello,

is it possible to turn off or remove the integration of WB settings into the display settings Desktop->right click context menu->Settings->Customize (translated from German). Or is it possible to have "Windows XP" listed there as the current style despite the integration being active and WB using a different skin (such as Diamond).

Corel WordPerfectOffice X4 uses the legacy theme only because it doesn't find the Windows XP theme.

Note: both screenshots have been taken with Alt+Print. The second screenshot didn't capture the dialog perfectly obviously (borders miss some pixels) (this is meant as a "can be worked on" suggestion for the WB team ! :-) )

open WB config

click on the per application (or change the look of a particular app - i forget where it was in WB5 but I think it's on the left panel when you first open config - else it's in settings)

click add an app, browse to WordPerfect and add the exe to be excluded - once added you have mulitple options, one of which is to use a particular skin - other options range from full exclusion to partial exclusions

 

just curious, in the 1st shot... what happens if you click the 'classic mode WB 5.1' - seem checking that would enable WB to skin it

I believe that's WP5.1 as in Word Perfect.I'd still try excluding the app as Bichur suggested.

As far as the Display Properties integration,,,,,,,,,I imagine it must be possible as I remember one of the original version 6 betas broke the integration and I could ony access Windowblinds through the tray icon.

Hi,

thanks for your suggestions. I already tried using the per-application setting and disabled skinning (that's the condition the first screenshot was taken under). WPO X4 still uses the legacy theme only and tells me that it needs the WindowsXP theme set in the display properties which isn't, it's the WB skin set in general.

if the full exlusion doesn't work....

maybe (just maybe)

see if when you choose 'specified skin' is xp theme is in there,

if it's not, you get use skin studio (even the free one i believe) to create a skin = it will start with MS' xp skin - just save it at that point with out changing anything - then it should show in the exclusion list (as XP blue - but imported as a WB) == maybe using that as the default skin for WP?

Hi,

thanks for the tip, yet it doesn't persuade WPO. I installed the free SkinStudio and used the default new skin as the per-application set skin (thanks again for this hint, yet this option and the other options apply to WB skinning WPO thus WPOs theme would be overridden even if it used the non-legacy theme).

WP5.1 mode is WPOs WordPerefct 5.1 mode which make WPO looks (and behave) just like the DOS version WP 5.1 :-)

HyperMediaCenter is a TV media center -like application I got from the ftp-server of the TV device vendor KWorld, there are many apps on their accessible ftp-Server I didn't find on their website :-)  (Unfortunately it or the device has some problems thus I just switched to AVer today).

I believe we intentionally disable theme support in Corel due to bugs in their implementation.

Thanks, I prefer having the cake. Unregistering wbui.dll also means having no skinned windows - not only having no display settings integration. For those interested: omitting the /u in above command registers the dll again. The WPO X4 "theme" isn't worth it, having seen it now I prefer the legacy theme actually :-) Thanks again!

No,planetLars. You have misunderstood. WBui.dll is file which just controled Windowblinds setting showing on the Apearance tab,unregister it won't affect the Windowblinds and native MS theme service functions. You still be able to select and apply MS Luna theme( native MS theme) in Apearance tab or Windowblinds theme through the main program whether the from the desktop or start menu of Windowblinds..

Hmm, I got pure Windows 98 windows after unregistering WBui.dll even when I reapplied a WB skin and even when the Windows Theme service was running.
