Windowblinds reverts to Windows Classic

I am not sure what happened, as WindowBlinds worked when I first installed it, but for the past month or two I have opted not to use it anymore because no matter what I do, or what theme I try to use, my taksbar reverts to the Windows Classic. None of this skin or skin colors/setting get applied to anything either.

This is what is displayed in the WindowBlinds Configurator:

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 6.3 (build 68 x86)

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC
WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC
Your machine supports per pixel borders on WindowBlinds skins.

You have the same build that I have but some dates and times are different.  I suggest you email support@stardock.com they should be able to help you out.

Something to think about, what change in your computer between the time it worked and then stopped working?

Hmm, I actually don't know exactly. Possibly an Nvidia update, or a windows update. I update all my Firewall and Anti-virus regularly. I think I installed Diskeeper around that time as well. Oh, and maybe a new version of Daz Studio.

I have an XP machine with Service Pack 3 if that matters at all.

Did it stop working when you updated Windowblinds?

If you used the trial version first, did you uninstall it before installing purchased version, this is a must. If this is what you have done, uninstall WB, run something like CCleaner, reinstall WB (reboot between each step).

Man I have the same thing!! I just purchases the full program and have never had it before on my computer and the same thing is happening!!!

I think you both have the same cause and effect: Disable your security software. Un-install and install via Impulse. http://storage.stardock.com/files/Impulse_setup_full.exe

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC

WindowBlinds has not been activated correctly on this PC. Please activate it from SDC.

What is this SDC?? I bought it legally today and enter the key and it freezes so I force shut down and then somehow WindowBlinds opens anyway. I tried 3 times already and the same thing always happened. I tried to open from Impulse but it says it can't auto update and I have to do it from the web and gives me the link but when I click on the website link to download the update it tells me page not found. Oh man! there go my 60 bucks.

Your 'Activation. exe' isn't going thru.....

lol but impulse doesn't open cause it can't auto update. I try from the link on the web but it tells me page not found.

EDIT: Thanks for looking in my thread Ok this is confusing, so what am I supposed to do now? And is there another link to the impulse update? =3

Un-install (you can use this if you like: https://www.stardock.com/files/odnt_zapper.exe) all the Stardock apps (including Impulse- which you'll have to do separately if you use 'Zapper' utility). Reboot.

Download the link I gave you (shut down security apps, right click and install Impulse 'As Administrator')

Do not install any other Stardock apps until Impulse is running properly.

Ok help.. I tried to uninstall object dock plus and it asks me if I want to proceed and I click yes but then nothing happens? I uninstalled Object desktop but the launchpad is still here.

I downloaded the zapper application but it freezes everytime and "can't be executed correctly". This is getting worse...lol!

OK, stop.....this is getting ugly.... do you have a Restore Point prior to any Stardock installations? Can I assume you had no problems prior to that?

Hello again! thanks for bearing with me

Yeah I did a complete restore now, and it's all gone *phew*

So just to confirm... I'll shut down windows defender and AVG now, then install impulse from the link you gave me.

Alright I'm going to do that now. ^^

EDIT: Yep I didn't have any problems before that

EDIT: OMG It works!! I just downloaded through My Desktop and it works now!!! Yay!! Thank you so much! *hugs*

I wonder why they didn't just tell me to do that in the first place tho =P I will activate my AVG again now.

Thanks SO much again!!!

EDIT: Yep it tells me both the serials I bought are registered and all the functions I bought are available.

register your ObjectDesktop serial in Impulse before you download/install

Hi, I was having quite a similar problem - I started my computer this morning after Windows XP updated last night. It reverted to the classic Windows XP theme this morning and would not work with any WB theme at all. At best I'd get the color of the theme displaying with no graphics or any of the detail on WB.

I followed YRAG's instructions and uninstalled WB, making sure I had my reg# and all, just in case. I downloaded Impulse and then re-installed WB from there. IT WORKS NOW.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR SHOWING US WHAT TO DO ABOUT THIS !!! :star:

I see some other people need help too with this on another part of the forum - I Am going to point them here.

I have the exact same problem BUT unfortunately YRAG's instrucions only helped temporary! After two restarts my problem is back and WindowBlinds doesn't work anymore!

What can I do?? Please help!

depending on your AV stuff it may be blocking WB - on some of them you have to go in and exclude it from blocking
