Micromanaging ship facing

I dont think this is a current game feature, but would be sure be nice to have early game.

Often I'll be using a Capital Ship that has it's primary weapons on the left and right side of the ship, with nothing in the front.  To make up for this, the ship turns to bring its side weapons to bear on its chosen target.  Which is great.

But if there are alot of enemy ships around, I dont always want the ship to turn to engage.  I can get more out of the vessel by plowing into the middle of an enemy fleet and letting both sets of guns engage the enemy.

So what I'm wondering is, can you make a feature that will allow me to either turn off the ' turn sideways' function or give my ships a move command that tells them to turn to a facing I choose?

Perhaps a "move" command like what we have now, and also a "shift+move" command that is more a force move type that ensures the ship goes from point A to B in a straight line uninterrupted.  There are several instances that could be useful I think.

yeah i just manually move them...at least all the ships that use their broadside as their main attack...which is a good portion of them...

I just send my Kortul into the middle of the enemy pack. Have you played the Total War series of games? I think what you're describing is like in that game, where you can select a unit, hold the riche mouse button and drag the mouse to change their orientation and depth and width. I can see that coming in handy when I want my fleet packed close for Repair Cloud or when I want them loose when I spot a level 6 Marza or Radiance with a Progenator.
