moving in 3d space help

I have manuelly moved the ships in 3d space before, you know moving them above and below the grid around a planet, but its not working anymore for some reason. I have used the "~" button and I have tried pressing and holding "D", but neither initiate the 3D move. what is it called on the key bindings menu? maybe it got erased somehow, but i dont know what its called on the menu. any help is greatly appreciated, i like moving em in 3d :)

What game version are you running now?  I seem to remember 3D movement was taken out in an update (don't remember the reason)....

Im not sure if you can manually move up and down but they do (rarely) move up and over the planets they are orbiting (Im not sure why they do that either since you seem to have no control over whether they go up or around..)

that didnt help you at all but I thought Id just say that they still do move in 3D

Their was a key that enabled human players to move in the Z axis.

It was taken out in a recent patch. However I am hoping it will make its re-appearance with the new micro expansion.

In fact if I check the latest Beta it is probably already back in.
