So not happy with Window blinds

Well for the last year it has been nothing but problems.

I am using windows xp 64 bit, they did seem to get it fixed with the 6.2 version. I was very happy with it now they updated it to 6.3 and now it won't work again. Had a major crash on my harddrive and lost it all and had to reinstall it all back and found this problem.

I feel that if I have bought the program and it has run on it that it should work, Or I should be able to download one that works, (the 6.2 version) I even went to impulse and could not find it.

I have been a paying customer for about 5 years but this seems to be the last year that I will buy it as well it give me more headaches than I care to have.  And at around 50 dollars for Object desktop They don't seem like they care if they lose money or not. I will miss what the program does. But I will have to just adjust to a boring desktop.  Since they won't support windows xp 64 bit. or offer the window blinds that work for it.

I may be wrong but I think the last version of WB that worked with XP 64 bit was 6.2.  I believe I have also read that they won't be doing any more XP 64 bit support.  Again I could be totally wrong here.

Hopefully someone from Stardock will stop by and tell you for sure.

Have you opened up a support ticket? The support staff here at Stardock is pretty much 2nd to none. If you have...what did they say?

Email support@stardock.com and request a link to version 6.2.  When you get it installed do a backup of it and don't update it anymore unless a new version is certified to work with XP 64bit.  Stardock has announced they no longer intend to support XP 64bit.  So, stick with what does work.

Yep, 6.2 is the last version to support XP 64 bit.

From Neil Banfield, WB dev.

We do not support 64 bit XP as an OS I am afraid, but we are seeing if we can make it install 6.2 files on XP 64 instead.

Well I did find a acrchived 6.2 version in my stardock folder that I had backed up.

Well in the process I and having the serial no. for over 5 years have meant the dreaded maximum activations.

And due to alot of stupidity had to do alot of formats. and reinstalls of windows.

I have sent a ticket so I will wait and see what happens.

Thanks

No doubt in my mind that support can get it all straight for you. :sun:

No more winXp64 Development, why not? I'm not going down to Winxp, and i won't use it on Vista 64 bit

Had nothing but probablem with it lately.

The reason for why no more 64 bit XP development is simple.  The number of people using 64 bit XP can almost be counted on one hand but the development & testing overhead is considerable.

There has been some work on making the installer install the 6.2 files on XP 64 bit, though I am unsure how this turned out.

Exaggeration or not, this is an ignorant statement, at best.  Can I get my money back for my OD subscription?

I expected more/better from Stardock.

*edit* for those 4 other people running XP x64 (thanks Neil) I just searched for a torrent for WB 6.2 and as expected, it works great.  And I didn't even break any copyright laws, since I have a valid license for the software.

No, that won't be necessary now that I have a working 6.2 install again.  If I'd have known ahead of time that updating my WB6 via SDC would break it, I wouldn't have, and wouldn't have gotten grumpy in the first place.

Can we have some sort of promise that this won't happen with any other OD apps, or should I stop updating them out of fear?
