Wincustomize is soooooo slloowwww

Does anyone know why WC not loading for me.  After loading the main page (and yes I am logged on) I click on anyone of the gallery pages and they refuse to load up.  All I get is the "no preview" image.

Ya gotta wonder what the heck is going on. Is it too much to ask to get an update from Stardock on where this problem is now? Has the switch been finalized and is everything in place? Should we be seeing faster speeds yet or not? Is anybody home? If it is supposed to be all better, it ain't.

The site seems to have speed ups and slow downs...I've looked at a couple of threads and it's true that it was promised things would speed up after the move to the Chicago servers. Maybe the move hasn't been completed?

That's what frustrates me. Many of us are posting about the problem, but no one from Stardock is offering anything about the situation. We all just sit around and wonder what's going on. It's none of my business, but if this were my company, I'd be addressing the problem to the community. It seems there are quite a few folks who are pretty disgusted and not visiting the site as often. Of course, maybe that's one way to address the speed issue. ;)

Lets remember that is post is in General Discussion and not Stardock Support.

There is another post in the forum that is saying pretty much the same thing, very slow for some folks.

Thing to also remember it can be and normall is several factors that can or are contrubuting to this.  It's not always just a site problem.

I live in the U.S., New Mexico.  So I'm not very close to Stardock.  I use IE8 on a XP Home 32 bit system SP3.  My internet connection is DSL.  Things are running fine for me.  It doesn't mean that others are not or shouldn't be having problems and I know that this is no help, but at least you can compare setups.

With all due respect, this IS a site problem. There are many people reporting about this issue in the forums. Is is being posted in different arenas because there is so much frustration. People are trying to find out what is happening, make their voices heard, and hoping someone will listen and let us know what the prognosis might be. It is a legitimate concern that needs to be addressed soon.

And I apologize if I'm getting riled. I just wish someone in the know would address the situation.

There is not much else I can say that hasn't already been posted.  Servers have been moved, but there are still issues that are being worked out.  We are fully aware of the issues, and work is being done to correct them.  :)

Thanks, I.D.

I think some were just wondering what's up and looking for updates. Maybe am "Under Construction" type of area in the Forums and uniting all the posts about "speed" being put there?

mjbisme I understand yours and others frustrations.

The reason that I feel that it's is not just a site problem is there are folks out there that are not having any problems like myself.

I haven't been using computers all that long, heck half my life there wasn't even a thing called a home computer.  What I have picked up in this short time is computer problems don't allow for logic or patience to be applied.

I hope the problems for you and the others get figured out. |-)

I agree it has been beaten to death. But what I would like to know is what are the issues that you are aware of and what is being done to address the issues. To say it is being worked on doesn't say a whole lot. Being somewhat computer literate, and as a longtime subscriber, I would like to know what the problems are. I need to decide if a membership renewal is worth my money. Again, it may not be any of my business, but what does it hurt to be forthcoming?

Philly0381   The reason it appears to be a site problem is that the speed issue seems to be affecting many users only on Wincustomize. Every other site I visit, even graphic-intensive sites, load much faster. Download speeds elsewhere are much faster than this site. That's why those with problems believe it to be this site only. And the inconsistency is weird, why some users are doing fine and others are slow. I hope they can fix the problems before they start losing customers. And I hope you're not a Flyers fan..... ;P

Oh yeah... very, very slow.

I don't agree that this is/was a server migration issue, nor is it my browser (I alternately use Firefox, IE, Opera and Chrome) with the same slow issue.  I have no problems with speed on ANY OTHER sites I visit (DeviantArt, Caedes, graphic intensive sites, as well as news sites, you name it, I go everywhere...).

This has been an issue with WC for a LONG time.  I've been a member for almost 6 years and am kind wondering now whether it's worth renewing next time.  I have broadband so things shouldn't be this slow.

It may be a topic that has been beaten to death but the problem persists and I would think someone might pay some attention, especially since paying users are complaining too.

There's great artists who contribute to this site and it's gotten to the point where I rarely visit WC anymore because of this problem and that's not fair to all who have made WC what it is today.

(I wonder how long I'll have to wait to see this post "processed"... that also takes forever.... if anything the forums are even slower than other areas.)

it really sux when i click on a new skin, and it takes a minute to load the stupid page.  this has been a problem for an extremely long time.  in fact, i notice the site loads faster if i'm not logged in, so much for faster speeds for subscribers.  i live in chicago, i have seen no improvement, and no indication other than 1 post that they are going to be working on it, which to me really means nothing since i've been working on small stupid bug problems with IP and cursorFX since last year that still haven't been resolved.

things need to change around here, it's almost not worth coming to the site anymore, and threads like these could be avoided if stardock would just step up and talk to their community about problems and whats being done.  keep in contact with your community stardock, you have a great one and stop taking them for granted.

For the first time in quite a while I have to jump in on this one.  So slow and pages won't load.  It is frustrating.  XPSP2, ie7 by the way.  If maintenance or some other in house issues are causing these problems it would be nice to see a notification on the home page.  IMHO.

Vista here....but try using Opera 9.61. Loads really fast, and it's free.

I sure hope good things are ahead.  the website is slow and so are any new updates or skins.  I guess I'll have to start learning skinning, since not many new skins are being submitted.

We (meaning T-man) is doing diagnostics on the site today to try and find the cause of some issues.  That is all for now.  *_*
